Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two visitor groups and describe the broad shift from first-time visitors leading in 2000 to returning visitors leading later, which is relevant to the task. However, the account is only partial: it gives no clear overview of the overall peaks and contrasting trends, and several figures or comparisons are inaccurate. For example, first-time visitors fell from about 8,000 to 4,000 by 2002, rather than decreasing gradually; returning visitors rose from about 3,000 to 10,000. The stated percentage changes are also not consistently supported by the graph. The response contains 142 words, below the required 150, which limits the opportunity to report the main features fully. Add a concise overview and use a few accurate figures to support it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response follows the timeline from 2000 to 2008, and phrases such as “Between 2002 to 2004” help signal changes. This gives the reader some organisation. However, the information is presented as one long paragraph, with no distinct overview, and the repeated “Between…” sequence makes progression mechanical rather than clearly prioritised. Some links are difficult to follow, particularly “first time visitors increase 50 percent than last two year visitors,” where the comparison is unclear. The final sentence repeats the general comparison instead of drawing the trends together. Separate the overview from the details, group the two series in a logical way, and use clear references such as “this figure” or “by contrast” to connect comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “first time visitors,” “returning visitors,” “decrease,” and “increase,” so the basic subject is clear. However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or awkward, such as “increase 50 percent than last two year visitors” and “returning visitors are 10 percent less than last two years.” These expressions make it hard to tell whether you mean a percentage change or a comparison between groups. There are also spelling and word-form slips, including “tme,” “Graphs shows,” and “Comparatively.” Use precise trend language and collocations, for example “rose by 50%,” “fell by 10%,” and “reached a peak,” while checking spelling and avoiding repeated use of “increase.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to describe changes across several time periods and use some longer sentence forms, but grammatical control is inconsistent. Subject–verb agreement errors occur in “The line graph illustrate” and “Graphs shows,” while tense and verb-form problems appear in “first time visitors decrease” and “is increase.” Comparisons are also often formed incorrectly, as in “increase 50 percent than.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries need attention: the final two statements run together at “last two years.Overall,” and the long opening sentence contains several ideas without clear separation. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, agreement, and comparative structures, and divide the timeline into shorter sentences so the reader can follow each change.
