Student answer (Band 5.0)
THE LINE GRAPH ILLUSTRATE THE AMOUNT OF VISITORS FOR FIRST TIME AND RETURNING WHO VISIT CARYLSAND BETWEEN 2000 TO 2008.
OVERALL , IT IS CLEAR FROM THE GRAPH THAT THE HIGHEST VISITOR ARE IN THE 2008 AND MAXINUM VISITORS DEPARTURE IN 2006.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify both visitor groups and describe several key movements, including the returning-visitor rise to about 15,000 in 2006 and its subsequent fall, as well as the first-time visitors’ recovery after 2002. However, the overview is unclear: “the highest visitor are in the 2008” does not distinguish the series, and “maximum visitors departure in 2006” is difficult to interpret. Some figures are also inaccurate: returning visitors peak at about 15,200 in 2006, while first-time visitors reach about 9,300 then and 11,800 in 2008. The response therefore reports relevant information but only partially fulfils the task, with limited comparison and an unclear summary of the main features. State the contrasting overall trends explicitly and keep each series’ figures accurate.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an attempted overview, and separate descriptions of the two visitor groups. This helps the reader follow the broad sequence of years, and phrases such as “After this” signal a change in trend. However, progression is not consistently clear because the overview is hard to understand, and the two body paragraphs use repetitive sequencing rather than making comparisons. Expressions such as “To discuss briefly” and “To continue with” do little to show how the information relates. Some references, including “it” and “the graph,” are also unclear. Organise the body around the two series or their contrasting trends, and use precise links such as “By contrast” and “whereas” to connect comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “visitors,” “decrease,” “reach,” and “drop,” so the reader can recognise the general subject and direction of change. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the report difficult to interpret. “Maximum visitors departure” and “departure person” do not clearly describe visitor numbers, while “the graph is on almost close to 12000” is unnatural. Spelling errors such as “breifly,” “continoously,” and “maxinum” are noticeable, and “Carylsand” does not reproduce the island’s name accurately. Build a reliable set of trend verbs and nouns, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to describe changes across several years and use some longer sentence patterns, for example, “After 2 years in 2002 it rise and reach 10000 visitors.” However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “The line graph illustrate,” “the highest visitor are,” and “it decrease and reach.” The opening sentence also lacks a clear grammatical structure for describing the two groups. Practise forming accurate past-tense sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “The number of returning visitors rose to 10,000 in 2002.” Use full stops to separate each year’s change and check subject–verb agreement.
