Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the two visitor groups and the period, and you include the correct 2000 and 2002 figures for first-time visitors. However, the response reports only a small part of the graph and does not meet the 150-word minimum, so the task is addressed only minimally. The overview is also inaccurate: first-time visitors did not outnumber returning visitors in the initial years shown, since returning visitors were higher in 2000 and 2002. The claim that first-time visits declined is not supported by the full trend; after falling to 4,000, they rose to about 11,800 by 2008. Include the later figures and the main comparison: returning visitors peaked in 2006, then fell slightly, while first-time visitors increased after 2002.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, with an introduction, an overview, and a detail paragraph, and linking words such as “Overall” and “However” help signal relationships. This gives the reader some organisation. However, the progression is incomplete: the final paragraph stops after the 2002 figure, leaving the later years and the comparison between the two lines unreported. Some linking is also awkward or repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “However.” To improve, organise the details into a clear sequence across the period, grouping the two series where useful, and use transitions to show changes and contrasts rather than relying on the same connector.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant basic terms such as “number,” “visitors,” “increase,” and “declined,” so the topic is generally clear. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, including “rapidly” and “fluctuation.” However, the vocabulary range is limited and some choices or forms are inaccurate, which makes parts of the overview unclear. For example, “has large number” is not a natural way to describe a higher figure, and “returining” is misspelled. “Fluctation” is also misspelled, and the graph’s changes could be described more precisely with terms such as “rose,” “fell,” “peaked,” and “recovered.” Aim for accurate trend vocabulary and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and a longer sentence beginning “although,” and the main meaning is usually understandable. However, the range is limited, and errors in verb forms and sentence construction occur frequently enough to affect accuracy. In “first time visitors has large number,” the plural subject requires a plural verb, and the sentence needs a grammatical comparison. “The number of returning visitors increase” also has a singular subject and needs a past-tense verb for this completed period. In “the number of people who visited first time is declined,” the verb pattern is incorrect. Practise consistent past-tense reporting and build accurate comparative sentences, while checking sentence-initial capitalization and punctuation.
