Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify both visitor groups and report several key movements, including the fall in first-time visitors to 4,000 in 2002 and the rise in returning visitors to a peak in 2006. However, the overview is unclear: “maximum number of visitors returned while minimum had first time visited” does not accurately summarise the overall pattern, since first-time visitors also rise substantially after 2002. Some figures are imprecise or inaccurate: returning visitors are about 13,400 in 2008, not 13,000, and the first-time figure ends at about 11,800. The response also contains only 114 words, below the required 150, so the trends and comparisons are underdeveloped. Add a clearer overview and cover the main changes more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two visitor groups. Sequencing is generally understandable, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “Furthermore” signal progression. However, the organisation is not consistently clear. The overview is difficult to interpret, and the final paragraph moves from the 2008 figure back to the 2006 peak, which weakens the chronological flow. Some links are also awkward or incomplete, as in “in 2000 roughly 3000 people returned from island the count…”; a full stop or clearer connector is needed. Grouping each series’ figures in chronological order and using a concise, accurate overview would make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “downward trend,” “increases,” “highest value,” and “returning visitors,” so the reader can identify the main subject and movements. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. “Visitors visted and returned” is not a natural way to describe the two categories, while “visitants” is an unsuitable substitute for “visitors.” There are also spelling errors such as “Furthurmore,” “begining,” and “abot.” Use the chart’s labels consistently and choose precise verbs such as “rose,” “fell,” and “reached a peak.” Check spelling and avoid using synonyms that do not fit the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few longer structures, including “it follows downward trend in 2002 as 4000 visitors visited it,” but sentence forms are often faulty, and the range remains limited. Errors in verb forms and sentence construction occur in phrases such as “people had went caryl island” and “the highest value was in 2006 as near abot 15000 visitants come back.” Articles and prepositions are also missing or incorrect, for example “in begining year” and “returned from island.” These problems sometimes make the intended relationships harder to understand. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build clear sentences around each figure, for example, “The number fell to 4,000 in 2002, then rose to approximately 11,800 by 2008.”
