Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the two visitor groups and give a broad overview of their changing relationship, noting that first-time visitors began higher while returning visitors ended higher. Several key figures are also included. However, some reporting is inaccurate: first-time visitors reached about 11,800 in 2008, not 12,000, and returning visitors peaked at about 15,200 in 2006 before falling to around 13,400. The overview also says returning visitors were lower at the start, although they were lower only in 2000 and had overtaken first-time visitors by 2002. The response is three words below the required minimum. Include a clearer, accurate overview and cover the main turning points more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the two visitor groups. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is organised. However, progression is not always clear, and the repeated opening “In 2000” makes the account feel like two disconnected lists. Linking phrases such as “after that” and “however” are used, but the contrast in the overview is confusing and the final “However” does not clearly explain the relationship between the figures. Group both series in a more deliberate comparison, and use references such as “this figure” only when it is clear which series they refer to.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of vocabulary for describing visitors and change, including “decreased significantly,” “increased sharply,” and “declined.” However, the range is limited by repeated or unsuitable expressions, and several choices make the report less clear. “New invitee,” “regular individuals,” and “frequent visitors” are not natural ways to describe the chart categories; consistent use of “first-time visitors” and “returning visitors” would be more precise. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “visitores,” “begning,” and “gradully.” Some phrases, such as “were triped Island,” are difficult to understand. Focus on accurate, natural collocations rather than using many different labels for the same groups.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer sentences with contrast and time clauses, but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence structure and verb forms occur in examples such as “the number returning tourists were lower” and “more than 2000 regular individuals had explore.” Articles and prepositions are also often missing or inaccurate, as in “visited Caryl island in 2000 to 2008” and “came to stopover the Island.” Punctuation and capitalisation need attention: the overview begins with a lowercase “overall,” and commas are sometimes placed awkwardly around clauses. These errors can make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build longer sentences from reliable grammatical patterns.
