Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify both visitor groups and provide a relevant overview: returning visitors were generally higher, while first-time visitors fell and then rose. Several figures support the account, including 8,000 and 4,000 for first-time visitors and 10,000 in 2002 for returning visitors. However, the overview is not fully precise: first-time visitors did exceed returning visitors in 2000, so saying they “can not surpass” them is inaccurate. The final first-time figure is closer to 11,800, and the returning series peaks at about 15,200 in 2006 before falling to around 13,400. The response is also 8 words below the 150-word minimum; add a little more accurate comparison or detail to meet the requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement, with an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two visitor groups. This makes the main information easy to locate, and phrases such as “In terms of” and “Regarding” help signal the shift between series. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the overview’s comparison is not sufficiently qualified. The first-time visitor paragraph moves through the years in order, but the returning visitor paragraph could more clearly connect its peak and subsequent decline. Improve cohesion by using concise time links such as “after this” and “by the end,” and make comparisons between the two lines explicit where they are most informative.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “dropped,” “gradual increase,” “peaked,” and “sharp inclination,” so the trends are generally understandable. There are also attempts to vary wording rather than repeat “number” throughout. However, some choices are unnatural or imprecise for describing a graph: “sharp inclination” is not the usual collocation, and “took the highest number” is awkward. Repetition of “number of visitors” and “the number” also limits flexibility. Choose standard trend language and use precise nouns such as “figure” or “total” where appropriate. These improvements would make the description more natural and exact without requiring unusually advanced vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and more developed clauses, including “but the number dropped” and “Then it shows a gradual increase,” and the intended meaning is usually clear. Some grammatical and punctuation errors remain. For example, “returning visitors took the highest number” has an awkward construction, while “the number dropped at 4000” uses an unsuitable preposition in the sentence pattern. The sentence beginning “In 2006, amount of visitors attained…” is missing an article, and spacing around commas and full stops is inconsistent. There is also a tense shift from past reporting to “it shows.” Keep the description consistently in the past and check articles, prepositions, and punctuation when editing.
