Student answer (Band 5.5)
The graph illustrate first time visitors and returning visitors number who visited Caryl Island from 200 to 2008.
At a glance from the graph we can see in Caryl island Returning vistors are more than first time visitors. This can define the attractiveness of this island that when a people go for the first time there he will go there again.
In 2000 first time visitors were more than returning visitors, it was probably 8000 first time visitors visited the Island for the first time and more than 2000 were the returning visitors. If we move to the two years ahead in 2002 the first time visitor fall down directly to 4000 and the returning visitors risen up to 10000, which says that the island become more attractive to visitors in 2 years that visitors started to visit again. And the upward of the graph for returning vistors was until 2006, on the other hand first time vistors number was also went upwards graually. But from 2006 the returning visitors started to fall and in the 2008 it become close to 13000, moreover the first time vistors is rising up to close number of returning visitors in similar year.
From my opinion, Caryl Island achieved her attraction to the vistors in 2000 to 2006 massively, also first time user may loss few numbers for first 2 years but after it is increasing rapidly. But the attraction to the returning visitors are decreasing for last 2 years, which maybe a concerning subject to the authorities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify both visitor groups and describe the main broad movements, including the fall in first-time visitors to 4,000 in 2002, the rise in returning visitors through 2006, and the later decline in that group. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: returning visitors were not generally more numerous, since first-time visitors led in 2000. The claim that the graph shows the island’s “attractiveness” or that visitors returned because of it is speculation rather than information shown by the data. Some figures are also imprecise: returning visitors were about 3,000 in 2000, and first-time visitors reached about 11,800 in 2008. Focus on a concise overview of the contrasting trends and support it with accurate comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to a chronological account and a concluding comment. Time markers such as “In 2000,” “in 2002,” and “from 2006” help the reader follow the sequence. However, progression is weakened by repetition and by ideas that do not belong in a data summary, particularly the speculation about the island’s attractiveness and the authorities’ concerns. Some linking phrases are awkward or unclear, as in “If we move to the two years ahead” and “moreover” before the final comparison. Organise the body around the two series or their contrasting trends, and use clear comparisons rather than repeatedly narrating each year.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “first time visitors,” “returning visitors,” “fall,” and “rising,” so the main subject is usually understandable. There is also an attempt to vary expressions with phrases such as “upward” and “decreasing.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, including “the upward of the graph,” “achieved her attraction,” and “first time user.” Spelling errors such as “vistors” and “graually” are noticeable, while repeated use of “visitors” and “attractive” makes the account less precise. Build a reliable set of trend verbs and comparison phrases, and check spelling and natural collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts longer sentences and subordinate clauses, for example, “If we move to the two years ahead in 2002…” and “which maybe a concerning subject to the authorities.” These attempts show some range, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the account difficult to read. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “The graph illustrate,” incorrect verb forms in “the returning visitors risen up” and “was also went upwards,” and article or number problems in “when a people go.” Tense and sentence construction also shift inconsistently. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build shorter, controlled sentences before combining ideas with clauses.
