Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You report several relevant figures, including first-time visitors falling from 8,000 in 2000 to 4,000 in 2002 and returning visitors rising to about 15,000 in 2006. However, the response has no clear overview of the main trends, and some comparisons or details are missing: for example, returning visitors peaked in 2006 and then fell to about 13,400 in 2008, while first-time visitors rose to roughly 11,800. The statement that first-time visitors increased “on every next years” is also inaccurate because the rise begins after 2002, not throughout the whole period. The response contains 115 words, below the required 150, so the task is addressed only minimally. Add a concise overview and cover both series across the period.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response follows a basic time-based sequence and uses a few linking expressions, such as “However” and “In 2006,” so the reader can identify some of the figures being discussed. However, the information is presented as one continuous paragraph without a clear overview or grouping of the two visitor categories. The shift “Lets keep an eye on which visitor returned” is conversational and does not create a clear transition. Some references are difficult to follow, particularly “the blue line” and the repeated “in 2004” near the end. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview, and one or two body paragraphs, grouping related trends and using clear references to each visitor group.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use basic task-related vocabulary such as “increased,” “decreased,” “visitors,” and “dramatically,” which allows the reader to understand the general subject and some changes. However, the range is repetitive, and several expressions are inaccurate or too informal for an academic report. “Lets summrise the grah” contains spelling errors, while “Lets keep an eye on” sounds conversational rather than analytical. Phrases such as “the total population of visitors” and “visitors amount” are also unnatural for describing chart data. Use precise terms for quantities and trends, and vary them appropriately—for example, describe a figure as a number or total, and say that it rose, fell, peaked, or declined.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with linking words, and several figures are expressed in understandable basic clauses. However, control is uneven: errors in verb forms, sentence construction, articles, and punctuation occur frequently enough to make parts of the report awkward or unclear. For example, “the visitors who visit Caryl Island first time the total population of visitors was 8000” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “12000 visitors had been visit” uses an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “as we see that the blue line going upward” also lacks a properly formed main clause. Practise writing short, complete sentences with accurate past-tense verbs, then combine them using a small range of correctly formed complex structures.
