Student answer (Band 5.0)
We no longer need to have animals kept in zoos, so zoos should be closed
I wouldn't agree to this statement as zoo is a very informative and a bery good source to gain knowledge about alot of animals that can help younger generation and they can just see animals practically and they just don't have to image it or see it through any books, encyclopedias or on any internet sources
they can just see it by there naked eyes and mesmerize the animals themselves
There alot of childer or kids who just love animals and would definitely like to see them for such kids zoo is a very good place where they could spend sometime and play around
As we know there are alot of animal species that are more more and are extent from this world and there are also many animals that are left in a very few number
for example white tigers they are just left in a very few number and could extent at anytime amd also as for our generation or the generations before us we have not seen dinosaur but few people like me who like to see animals and love them would definitely wanted to see dinosaurs and who they looked and would like to know alot about them
So as we have alot of examples in front of us as we can see the number of existing animals in this world are just reducing day by day so I feel Zoos should exist and our next generations should get this opportunity to see and look at the animals that are still alive.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you disagree with closing zoos, and you give relevant reasons, especially education and opportunities for children to see animals. The point about endangered species could also support your view, but it is not fully explained: clarify how zoos help protect or breed animals, rather than only noting that their numbers are falling. The dinosaur example is less persuasive because dinosaurs are extinct and cannot be seen in zoos, so it does not directly support the argument about keeping living animals. The response therefore addresses the question but develops its reasons unevenly. To strengthen it, explain each main reason with a specific, relevant example and briefly acknowledge a concern such as animal welfare.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall structure: it states your opinion, gives reasons in separate sections, and ends by restating your view. However, the progression between ideas is not always clear. The paragraph about children’s enjoyment is brief, while the next moves from endangered species to dinosaurs without explaining the connection. Linking phrases such as “As we know” and “So as we have a lot of examples” are repetitive or do not clearly show how the ideas relate. Several sentences run together, making the argument harder to follow. Use distinct paragraphs for education, conservation, and your conclusion, and connect each point with precise transitions and clear references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “generation,” “species,” and “existing animals,” and the reader can generally understand your main ideas. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “a lot,” “animals,” and “see.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “childer,” “extent” where you mean “become extinct,” and “image” where “imagine” is intended. Some combinations sound unnatural, including “naked eyes” and “play around” in this context. Build a more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations; this will make your reasons clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to express several connected ideas, but most sentences rely on simple patterns or become long, loosely joined sentences. Errors in sentence structure and grammar are frequent enough to make parts difficult to read. For example, “I wouldn't agree to this statement as zoo is” needs a clearer clause structure and an article before “zoo,” while “there are a lot of animal species that are more more” is incomplete and unclear. In “would definitely wanted to see,” the verb form is incorrect, and “who they looked” does not form a correct question clause. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine ideas with accurate conjunctions and check articles, agreement, and verb forms.
