Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You state a clear position—“I completely disagree”—and begin to offer a relevant reason: zoos can serve an educational purpose, while harmful visitor behaviour is described as exceptional. However, the response addresses the task only minimally. It does not explain why zoos should remain open, develop the educational point, or provide a relevant example, and it does not consider other possible reasons such as conservation. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, leaving the argument incomplete. To strengthen it, explain and support several reasons for your position, include a specific example, and write a conclusion that reinforces your view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening gives your position, and “On the one hand” introduces a supporting point. The reader can identify the general direction of your argument. However, the response ends before a clear progression of ideas is established; there is no further paragraph, explanation, or conclusion. The link between the educational purpose and the claim that visitors may harm animals is also not fully explained. Develop one main idea at a time, use clear paragraphing for your reasons and conclusion, and connect each claim to its explanation with appropriate linking phrases. This would make the argument easier to follow rather than relying on a single transition.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “entertainment purpose,” “educational motive,” and “wildlife educational purpose,” so the subject is generally recognisable. There is some range in the ideas you try to express, but several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, and spelling errors such as “wiedly” reduce precision. For example, “educational motive” is not a natural way to describe what zoos provide, while “animal” is repeated without variation. Aim for accurate topic vocabulary and natural collocations, such as “educational value,” “wildlife conservation,” and “animals in captivity.” Proofread spelling and choose phrases that express your intended meaning directly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both a longer opening sentence and a contrastive structure with “On the one hand,” showing some effort to use more than simple sentences. However, control is uneven: “animals that are kept in the zoo … are no need to kept” has problems with clause structure and verb forms, and “the animal that are kept” has an agreement error. The sentence beginning “On the one hand” also combines ideas without a clear grammatical relationship, and punctuation spacing is inconsistent. These errors make parts of the argument difficult to interpret. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking agreement, articles, and verb forms before using longer structures.
