Student answer (Band 5.5)

Every person and animal should be free so they can enjoy the places independently. Every life have the right to enjoy their lives to their choices. Some people think that we do not need to hold animals in the zoos. They want zoos should be shut. I do not agree with this view and gives some reasons about this topic.

Firstly, animal zoos provide many financial help so it is the best way a country economics. Animal zoos is very important for a country because many visitors came in zoos to see animals so people can easily earn money. But many people want to animals free because they think that we should not have the right to keep. They want to see animals in the forest where they can comfortably grow their life. And it is their satisfaction to watch animals in the jungle and their work.

However, animals zoos is the biggest project to income money very quickly. And also when people come to zoos they can easily see the animals but in the jungle they cannot see their properly specially the child. Moreover, this zoos are very significant because this gives us many paths for a nation's economic growth and also it provide employment to people. So, in our country the number of jobless people became decline. That's why we need to gives the animals proper treatment.

To sum up, i strongly believe that for countries economics growth we should not closed the zoos because it provides many benefits now and will be given in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you disagree with closing zoos, and you give reasons related to income, tourism and employment. These points are relevant to the question, and you briefly acknowledge the opposing view that animals should live freely in forests. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because it focuses mainly on economic benefits and does not explain whether zoos protect animals, support conservation or provide suitable living conditions. The claim that zoos help the economy is repeated rather than developed with a specific example or explanation of how the benefits outweigh concerns about animal welfare. To strengthen the response, develop two distinct reasons and support each with a concrete example, while directly addressing the welfare argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “However,” “Moreover” and “To sum up” help signal stages in the argument. However, progression between ideas is not always clear: the first body paragraph moves from financial benefits to freedom and then to watching animals in the jungle without showing how these points connect. “However” introduces a point that largely continues the case for zoos, so the relationship is unclear. Repetition of the economic argument also limits development, and references such as “this” in “this zoos” are not always clear. Group related ideas together and use linking phrases to show whether you are adding a reason, contrasting views or explaining a result.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “visitors,” “employment,” “economic growth” and “proper treatment,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, vocabulary is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “many financial help” and “the best way a country economics” do not express the economic argument naturally, while “grow their life” and “their work” are unclear in context. The repeated use of “animals,” “zoos” and “money” also restricts precision. Build a more accurate set of phrases for discussing conservation, animal welfare and local economies, and check that each phrase fits its context rather than translating directly from another language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses with “because,” “so” and “when,” but the range of structures is limited and errors occur frequently. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent, as in “Every life have” and “animals zoos is”; verb forms are also faulty in “I do not agree … and gives” and “we should not closed.” Articles and plurals cause further problems, for example “in the zoos” and “the child.” These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to understand, although the overall message can usually be followed. Practise forming accurate simple sentences first, especially with subject–verb agreement and modal verbs, then combine them using subordinate clauses. Proofread each sentence for its subject, verb and tense.
