Student answer (Band 6.0)

Zoos are one of the favourite places of kids, animal lovers and researchers because they provide access of wild animals to the public. People can see various animals and creatures that are generally found in the areas. Zoos play a vital role in the entertainment of public specially of school kids. People who are eager to observe the looks, nature and behavior of wild animals often visit to zoos. While zoos are a major source of entertainment and observation, I am completely agree with the statement of closing all zoos. Because the wild animals are meant to live in their own habitat, where they can live according to their nature, where their body structure and abilities align with the environment they are made for. They should in a place where they can use their natural abilities, where they can hunt, where they can fly and where they can run and swim in freedom. Keeping a bird in a cage brutally affect its physical and mental health. Being trapped in cage for a long time, the bird can lose its natural flying ability. Similarly, keeping animals where they are not meant to live can affect their mental and physical conditions and can be lead to the reduction or extinction of that animal. Moreover we don't have any right to take the home of any animal. The government should take strict steps and should close all the public and private zoos. It is the era of technology, anyone can explore and observe wildlife on internet.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that zoos should close, and you give relevant reasons, including animals’ need for natural habitats, the effects of confinement, and the availability of online wildlife content. The examples of birds losing their ability to fly and animals being unable to hunt or move freely help explain your view. However, some points are asserted rather than developed. For instance, the claim that captivity can lead to an animal’s reduction or extinction is unclear and needs explanation or evidence. The technology point is also brief and does not fully show how online observation could replace zoos’ other functions, such as research or conservation. Develop these ideas with specific examples and address a possible counterargument to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response follows a generally understandable sequence: it introduces the role of zoos, states your position, gives reasons against captivity, and ends with a recommendation. Linking expressions such as “Similarly” and “Moreover” help connect related points. However, the ideas are presented in one continuous paragraph, so the shifts from zoos’ entertainment value to animal welfare and then technology are not clearly signposted. Some repeated “where they can” clauses make the middle section feel list-like, while the opening spends several sentences on similar reasons people visit zoos before the argument begins. Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, main reasons, and conclusion, and make each paragraph develop one central point with clear references between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “wild animals,” “natural habitat,” “physical and mental health,” and “natural abilities.” These expressions make your main argument clear, and you attempt more specific language such as “extinction” and “observe wildlife.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however: “access of wild animals,” “the entertainment of public,” and “visit to zoos” do not sound idiomatic. “Looks” is also imprecise in this context, and “the areas” does not clearly identify where the animals live. Aim for more natural combinations and precise nouns, such as “access to wildlife,” “public entertainment,” and “observe animals’ appearance and behaviour.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex structures, including relative clauses and explanations with “because” and “where.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “I am completely agree” should be “I completely agree,” and “They should in a place” needs a verb, such as “They should be in a place.” The sentence beginning “Because the wild animals…” is a fragment, while “can be lead” should be “can lead” or “can be led.” There are also errors in articles and agreement, as in “in cage” and “brutally affect.” Check each sentence for a complete subject–verb structure, and review verb forms and singular/plural agreement.
