Student answer (Band 5.5)

Now a days, many people think that we no need to have kept animals in the zoos and we need to closed the zoos. I strongly disagree with this statement because zoos also provide the habitate for endangered species and scientists also perform experiments on animals for the benefits of mankind and zoos also provide chance to people for see the different types of animals.

Firstly,I stronlgy disagree with this statement that it is no compulsory to animals kept in the zoos,so zoos should be closed because zoos also provide the habitate for nearly extinct animals like dolphin, various kinds of sparrows especially brown sparrow.when we kept these animals in the zoo we have chance to perform mating these animals with their males and females and produce fertile offsprings by this method we protect the exticnt species.scientists perform many experiments on the animals who kept in he zoo and produce beneficial medicines for humans.Various types of medicines can apply on the animals before humans bacuase we prevent from their side effects.Forexample,In Lahore zoo pair of white rhino kept and try to produce fertile offsprings to prevent from exticntion.

Moreover, zoo also provide a chance to people for see the different types of animals because every person have no money for visiting the tanzania safari parks for see the different types of animals like lion, leopard.girrafe anf zebras.zoo can also provide a chance to peolpe for enjoy their and observe different types of animals.Zoos also help to enhance the knowledge of scince students. Many universities plan to visit the zoo for their science students specially department of zoology by this students also imrpove their knowldege about animals.Forexample, white leopard kept in the karachi zoo.

In conclusion, many people believe that we no need to have kept animals in the zoos and we need to closed the zoos. I strongly disagree with this statement because zoos also provide the habitate for endangered species and scientists also perform experiments on animals for the benefits of mankind and zoos also provide chance to people for see the different types of animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you disagree with closing zoos. You give relevant reasons, including protection of endangered species, public access to animals, and educational value for students, and the Lahore white-rhino example helps make conservation more concrete. However, the reasons are not developed equally. The claim that animal experiments produce medicines is introduced but not explained or supported with a specific example, and the conservation discussion would benefit from clarifying how zoos contribute to breeding and reintroduction. The essay addresses the question, but some claims remain broad or unclear. To strengthen the response, explain each main reason with a clear chain of reasoning and use examples that directly demonstrate its value.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting different reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “Moreover” help signal the main points, and the reader can generally follow the overall argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with repeated use of “also” and long sentences that combine several claims. For example, the first body paragraph moves from breeding endangered animals to medical experiments without a clear transition, while the second shifts from public access to student learning. Organise each paragraph around one central idea, use clearer links between explanation and example, and avoid repeating the introduction almost word for word in the conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “endangered species,” “fertile offspring,” “side effects,” and “department of zoology.” These choices show an attempt to discuss conservation, research, and education rather than relying only on very basic terms. However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “provide a chance” and “different types of animals,” and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, including “perform mating,” “habitate,” and “produce beneficial medicines.” Spelling errors such as “exticntion,” “girrafe,” and “knowldege” also reduce precision. Build a bank of accurate topic collocations and check spelling; more precise phrasing will make your ideas clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses explaining reasons and examples, so there is some variety in structure. The main message is usually understandable, but errors in sentence construction and basic grammar occur across the response. For instance, “we no need to have kept animals” and “we need to closed the zoos” use incorrect verb patterns, while “every person have no money” has an agreement problem. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “zoo also provide” and “the different types of animals.” Punctuation spacing and sentence boundaries need attention, particularly where several ideas are joined with commas. Practise accurate verb patterns, subject–verb agreement, and article use, then proofread each sentence for a clear grammatical structure.
