Student answer (Band 6.0)

The idea of closing all zoo has become popular people argue that animals belong in the wild . while i understand about the concern about animals welfare, i disagree with view. I belive that well run zoos still play a vital role in conservation, education and research.

Firstly , animals in the zoo are deforesting and un-dangerous of species animals. The protect the environments and human beings . Peoples are visit the zoo to knowing the catagories of animals and learns so many things regarding the nature of the animals . Its also helps in the research projects . while i disagree with the close the zoo we reflect and ignoring the nature .We need to know about the animals and its the benifits in our life. many things the animal teach us like the loyalty . so important is that we need longer the animal kept in the zoo.

Secondly, i discuss the mean point of education, zoo helps us to teach the child regarding animals. every schools ,Colleges even university has planned the the visit the zoo for the students. school child/students the visit the zoo to see the different kind of animals and knowing the different way of the name of the animals in the fun way and learn easily . In the college students know the animals before but not knowing the feature and benifits in our life so the visit zoo and the last the university students visits the zoo to research project .

Zoo serves an important education purpose. when people espacialy children , see animals in person, they develop a strong connection in nature and great understanding of biodiversity. This firsthand expirance cannot be fully replace by docomentaries or virtual tours. Furthermore, modern zoos conduct scientific research on animal behaviour diet and medicine. This research not only improves cars for captive animals but also helps conservation efforts in the wild.

Admittedly, some traditional zoos keep animals in small, poor conditions purely for entertainment. such facilities should be sut down and replacement with sanatories that proties animal welfare. Its should be proties the animals well beings and the will react in the nature ways. However, this is an argument for reforming zoos, not abolishing them entirely.

In conclusion although animals welfare is valid concern, i do not agree that all zoos should be closed . Instead , we should support zoos that focing on conversation education and ethical treatments of animals . the important to protecting species.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against closing all zoos. While the main ideas—conservation, education, and research—are relevant, the development is inconsistent. Some arguments, particularly in the second paragraph, are repetitive and lack clarity. The third paragraph is more focused and provides better support, but the overall argument suffers from a lack of cohesion between the points. The student successfully identifies the need for reform rather than abolition, which is a sophisticated approach to the topic, but the expression of these ideas is often hindered by language errors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate (e.g., 'so important is that we need', 'and the last the university students'). There is a lack of smooth transitions between sentences, making the flow feel disjointed at times. While the progression of ideas is generally logical, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved to better link the supporting evidence to the main arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'deforesting' instead of 'protected' or 'un-dangerous' instead of 'endangered'. Phrases like 'knowing the catagories' and 'the visit the zoo' demonstrate a lack of control over basic word forms and collocations. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'biodiversity' and 'conservation', these are often surrounded by errors that impede the natural flow of the text. More precision is needed to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence construction (e.g., 'Peoples are visit the zoo', 'every schools... has planned the the visit'). Punctuation is also problematic, with inconsistent spacing and comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of grammatical errors requires the reader to work harder to interpret the intended message, which is characteristic of a Band 5.0 or 5.5 level.
