Student answer (Band 6.0)

Individuals no longer need to have animals kept in zoo , so zoo should be closed. I agree to the huge extend with the above notion and I have supported my stand with reasonable justification.

Taking in to agreement side , first and foremost reason is the freedom of the animals . As animals are living being they need some freedom to walk around, in the jungles. For instance , their are many national parks in all over the world which keep the animals in the natural area and avoid using the cage . Like in Gujarat their is a Gir national park in South-East Gujarat . Which is famous for the Lions , where they are kept freely in the forest and we can see them roaming while sitting in the cage car.

Furthermore, the second reason is that some domestic animals are harmless. they can not harm the surrounding and they are helpful in many was like cow gives the milk so they are mostly seen in the country sides . dogs are the loyal animals so every house has it as a pet as well as the cat .

Looking deeper in to the disagreement side , the first and foremost reason is that some animals are harmful . we can not keep them roaming around they causes harm to the living beings or their habitats. For instance , last year in Gujarat their was a case that a guy was beaten by the tiger when he went to the national park . Because he was hungry and not given the vaccinations . So if they are in cage than they can not harm others and both the animals and individuals remain safe around each other .

To recapitulate , we can keep wild animals in cage , whereas domestic animals in surroundings.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a position, but the development is inconsistent. While you provide reasons for both sides, the argument regarding domestic animals (cows and cats) is largely irrelevant to the core debate about zoos and wild animals. The conclusion is also somewhat contradictory to your initial stance, as it suggests keeping wild animals in cages, which undermines your earlier argument for freedom. To improve, ensure all points directly support your thesis and provide more depth to your arguments rather than listing unrelated examples. The position needs to be more clearly maintained throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Taking in to agreement side' and 'Looking deeper in to the disagreement side'. These phrases are not standard academic transitions. Additionally, the logical flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition from wild animals to domestic pets is abrupt. Improving the variety and precision of linking words will help the ideas flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'huge extend' instead of 'huge extent' and 'beaten by the tiger' instead of 'attacked by the tiger'. You also rely on repetitive phrasing. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more sophisticated collocations and academic vocabulary. Avoid informal phrasing and ensure that words are used in their correct context to convey your meaning accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'their are many national parks'), incorrect use of articles, and punctuation errors. For example, 'their was a case that a guy was beaten' should be 'there was a case where a man was attacked'. These errors are frequent and occasionally make the text difficult to read. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like 'their/there' and 'than/then' will significantly improve your score.
