Student answer (Band 7.0)
In today's contemporary world, the animals should no longer be kept in the cages in zoos and needed to be set free from bondage. I agree with this statement, as the animals should also have freedom and should not be used as a form of entertainment.
To begin with, the animals are a vital part of our world and should be free from all types of bondages. Moreover, there is no need for animals being kept in zoos, as with the advancements in the technology, an individual can see any form of birds or animals on their mobile phones. Moreover, there is a noticeable rise in deaths of animals due to being kept in confined spaces. For example, a Bengal tiger kept in a zoo of Rajasthan died due to the increasing blood pressure, as it was not familiar with close environments and started trembling and screaming.
Additionally, the national parks can replace the zoos, as the they surpasses the zoos in the matter of area they cover. Furthermore, the national parks present in southern India are
home of numerous living beings, moreover they are free to hunt, which makes them healthier and physically active in comparison to the cage animals. Finally, an individual can still watch and enjoy them with the help of safari cars which are provided by national parks and have ample amount safety standards and can follow the routes of a particular species with a tour guide.
To conclude, I firmly maintain an idea that, the zoos are not good for the animals and should be replaced to national parks which provides numerous benefits and advantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding technological alternatives and the benefits of national parks are relevant and well-supported. While the example of the Bengal tiger is specific, the development of ideas is generally logical and sufficient for the task. The essay covers all parts of the prompt, providing a clear stance and supporting reasons, which aligns well with the requirements for a Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there is some repetitive use of 'moreover' and 'furthermore' within the same paragraph, which makes the flow feel slightly mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, though the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother to enhance the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'contemporary world', 'bondage', and 'confined spaces'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'the animals should also have freedom' (should be 'animals should also be free') and 'the they surpasses' (a grammatical error that also affects lexical precision). The range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without difficulty.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the animals should no longer be kept in the cages' (unnecessary article), 'needed to be set free' (tense inconsistency), and 'the they surpasses' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are occasional errors with commas. The errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score in this criterion.
