Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 198 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the conclusion is incomplete and the arguments are underdeveloped. While you present a clear position of partial agreement, the supporting points lack depth and specific examples. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations and ensure the essay is fully completed. The current length prevents a full exploration of the topic, which is a requirement for higher band scores.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay uses basic paragraphing and some linking words like 'To initiate with' and 'furthermore'. However, the flow is often interrupted by awkward phrasing and grammatical errors. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is somewhat mechanical. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'nevertheless') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that logically connects to your overall argument. The incomplete conclusion also disrupts the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a limited range of vocabulary, often relying on repetitive or imprecise word choices. For example, 'dismissal of zoo' and 'sating animal free' are inaccurate collocations. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'endangered species' and 'natural habitat', the overall range is insufficient for a higher band. To improve, focus on learning collocations (words that naturally go together) and synonyms for common words. Avoid using informal phrasing and ensure your word choices are precise and appropriate for an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('question arises', 'Every animal have'), article usage ('in sector of teaching'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate, which can occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Proofreading your work for these common errors will help improve your accuracy significantly.
