Student answer (Band 7.0)
Many people thinks that the animal parks should be forbidden, because they are violent, but I agree with those who tell the zoos help the humanity to rise awareness about wildlife problems and to help animals by organizing natural parks.
First of all, zoos play an important educational role. Lots of them have a purpose to rise ecological problems among society. Many families spend their weekends and holidays at the zoos, where kids can learn a lot about local residents. It improves their outlook and helps to learn the natural problems and understand the importance of saving the nature. For example, many zoos in Russia organize special events for children and young people, where they are taught about endangered species and how to save them.
Another important goal of the zoos is the maintaining of natural habitats and helping those animals which are in great risk of extinction. They do it by collecting money and connecting with other zoos around the world. Money help to organize nature reserves, buy food and expensive medicine for animals, while international connection helps return population in it's natural conditions. As an example, China has an international program of increasing the panda's population, sending panda's childs around the world, where the local public donate money and the zoos earn profit, but at the certain age the pandas should be sent back to China, where they will multiply.
In conclusion, I do not think that zoos are bad for animals and they should be restricted. On the contrary, I believe they help the humanity to understand animals' problems and save animals around the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as the mention of Russian educational events and the Chinese panda conservation program. The argument is well-developed, though some points could be more nuanced to reach a higher band. For instance, the discussion on 'natural conditions' is a bit simplistic. Overall, the response is focused and directly answers the question, demonstrating a clear understanding of the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Another important goal', and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'Money help' and 'it's natural conditions', which slightly disrupt the flow. Despite these minor issues, the paragraphing is appropriate and the overall structure is sound.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'extinction', 'ecological', and 'humanity'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'rise awareness' (should be 'raise awareness'), 'rise ecological problems' (should be 'raise awareness of ecological problems'), and 'panda's childs' (should be 'panda cubs'). While these errors are present, they do not impede communication, and the range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Many people thinks'), article usage, and pluralization ('panda's childs'). There are also punctuation errors, such as the unnecessary apostrophe in 'it's' (possessive 'its' is required). Despite these errors, the student demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, and the mistakes rarely cause confusion for the reader. More attention to basic grammar rules would significantly improve the score.
