Student answer (Band 6.5)

In this modern era, people do not require to have animals kept in zoos, therefore zoos should be closed. I totally disagree with the given argument. My inclination will be discussed in ensuing paragraph in which I explain the factors to justify my inclination with relevant examples.

To commence with, the foremost argument to justify my stand is that if the zoos are closed then children do not get personal experience with animals. To elaborate this, if zoos are closed then people do not go to zoos with their children which has great loose to children because in zoos children see different type of species and got great knowledge about them how much longer they live, what they eat and how they make their inhabitants with the usage of wood and other material. For example, in Japan children have a great knowledge about animals because schools arrange zoo trips every month which results Japan students are so intelligent, if zoos are closed in Japan then it is a great loose to students.

Moving ahead, the another significant factor to justify my stand is that if zoos are closed then animals do not live longer and in future animals will be completely extinct. To explain this, zoos are good place for animals because in zoos they get proper diet and people also provide food to them when individuals visited zoos. If zoos are closed then animals are independent, but it is a great danger to their life because in forest predators killed them and sail their skin to markets at high prices.

To conclude, the aforementioned statement are totally wrong because zoos are place in which animals feel safe.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have clearly stated your position against the argument that zoos should be closed. You provide two main supporting points: the educational value for children and the protection of animals from extinction. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation regarding how animals build 'inhabitants' with wood is unclear and lacks logical depth. Additionally, the argument about predators killing animals in the forest is a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, ensure your supporting examples are more nuanced and directly address the complexities of the topic, such as animal welfare or conservation ethics, rather than relying on general assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moving ahead', and 'To conclude' to signal the structure of your argument. However, the flow between sentences within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally imprecise. For example, the transition between the idea of children's education and the specific example of Japan feels slightly abrupt. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will help improve the overall cohesion of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your main points. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and incorrect collocations, such as 'great loose to children' (should be 'great loss') and 'make their inhabitants' (should be 'habitats'). You also use repetitive phrasing, such as 'justify my stand' and 'if zoos are closed'. To improve, try to incorporate a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to conservation and animal welfare, and focus on using words in their correct context to avoid confusion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'children do not get'), article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'people do not require to have animals kept'). Some sentences are also run-on or lack necessary punctuation, which occasionally forces the reader to re-read to grasp the intended meaning. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and pluralization.
