Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of zoos, citing education and research as key benefits. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention research and education, the points are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the argument about 'research' is mentioned in every paragraph without providing specific examples of how this research benefits conservation. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or concrete examples. The position is consistent, but the overall argument would benefit from more sophisticated reasoning and a clearer structure in the supporting paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the flow of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as starting a paragraph with 'On the main advantages' (likely meant 'One of the main advantages'). Additionally, the transition between ideas within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the logical flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'good life', 'important role', and 'different types'. There are also some word-choice errors, such as 'animals wants to live' instead of 'animals want to live' and 'research point of view' which is slightly unnatural. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to conservation, biology, or ethics, and focus on using collocations more accurately to convey your ideas with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'zoos plays', 'modern zoo authorities was appointed', 'zoos is a very important area') and article usage (e.g., 'see the one lion'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of basic grammatical mistakes prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will help improve your accuracy significantly.
