Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is widely found that animals are more comfortable while living in their space. The statement presents that animals should not be kept in zoo, as a result zoo should be closed, although zoo serves benefits to local residents and governments. Despite this benefits, I strongly agree with the view that animals have a right to live freely along with that they contributes to ecosystem and lifecycles.

In modern world, the individuals have a knowledge of wildlife and various type of species resides in forest. As a result, those have a belief to give a freedom to the animals and shut down the zoos. I completely agree with this view, even government should implement a law to banned private zoos. For instance, the country Australia always prioritized wildlife preservation and their authorities have banned zoos. Due to it, the animals in Australia are living more happier lifestyle than any another country. Therefore, this view should be implemented all over the globe.

Another contributing factor is that the animals provide ecological services, maintain environmental balance, and drive biochemical cycling. Which outcomes in balancing the environment. This is based on the fact that closing zoos will be more beneficial for society. Furthermore, the animals are more suitable for their roles, If those are kept in zoos than they may loss their habits which is not good sign for them. For instance, Theory was revealed that the lions could not spend long life while they are in zoo. Consequently, they may feel uncomfortable while living in limited area of zoo. Hence, this reasons are also valid to demolish zoos.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that animal should not be kept in the zoos because it can be challenging for survival. On top of that, they cannot able to contribute to the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of closing zoos. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention ecological services and animal welfare, the arguments remain quite general. For instance, the claim that Australia has banned all zoos is factually inaccurate, which weakens the persuasiveness of your argument. To reach a higher band, ensure your supporting examples are accurate and provide more depth to your reasoning rather than repeating the same points about animal comfort. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively summarize the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'In modern world,' 'For instance,' and 'In conclusion.' However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical or awkward transitions. For example, the phrase 'Which outcomes in balancing the environment' is a sentence fragment that disrupts the logical progression. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as 'This is based on the fact that...' where the antecedent is ambiguous. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help the ideas flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'wildlife preservation,' 'ecological services,' and 'biochemical cycling.' However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'living more happier lifestyle' (should be 'a happier lifestyle') and 'loss their habits' (should be 'lose their natural instincts'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Focusing on correct collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will improve your score in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('animals... contributes'), article usage ('in modern world'), and sentence structure ('Which outcomes in balancing...'). There are also errors with verb forms, such as 'cannot able to contribute' (should be 'are not able to contribute') and 'law to banned' (should be 'law to ban'). While these errors do not completely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the writing.
