Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often agued that a colossal number of people believe that its not require for us to keep animals in zoos, therefore zoos should be closed. I completely disagree with this statement. By keeping zoos, is a grate way to know about different animals.

There are a number of reasons why I believe we should keep zoos. One possible reason is that the learners are not able to learn about different animals. By taking out zoos totally, students and many ordinary people will have lack of knowledge about animals. As a result, they will not understand the value and the importance of animals, specially those animals who are become extinct. Another reason is that it can prevent rare animals from extinct. For example, there are many animals which are remain only few pairs and they will completely wipe out if they live in wild life. Whereas, in zoo those animals will be safe and there is a high chance to make more bread from them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 179 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the essay is incomplete and ends abruptly. While you state a clear position, the arguments regarding education and conservation are under-developed and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. To improve, you must expand your points with more detailed explanations and ensure the essay follows a complete structure, including a conclusion that summarizes your main arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, with a clear introduction and body paragraphs. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Another reason is' and 'As a result,' but they are somewhat repetitive and basic. The paragraphing is also problematic, as the final paragraph is left unfinished. To achieve a higher score, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and logically connected to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'make more bread from them' (likely meaning 'breed') and 'remain only few pairs'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your message. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to conservation and animal welfare, and practice using these words in context to ensure they are used accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the flow of the text. Examples include 'It is often agued' (spelling), 'its not require' (incorrect verb form), and 'animals who are become extinct' (incorrect tense). There is a limited range of complex sentence structures, and the errors in basic grammar, such as subject-verb agreement and word order, are noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading your work to correct common errors in tense and word form.
