Student answer (Band 5.0)

the concept of zoos nowadays is being considered very brutal,as many people and organisations are raising their voice for animal freedom.safari is more preferable as compare to zoo.in zoo animals felt very bad and cannot breath freely out from their cages.its so miserable to watch animals in that situation so people should raise awareness for banning the zoos and promoting the safari culture where animal can breath freely in their natural habitates ,tourists can visit safari with safety precautions and can enjoy more than zoo.

i extremely agree with the statement,as being a animal lover i can never saw those poor animals behind cages.many people are spreading awareness for closing the zoos and in many areas people are actually setting the zoo animals free .animals should live in the forests where they can enjoy the life in their own way.

i remember that in my childhood i once visited the zoo, where i saw a monkey he was entertaining the people through his act as his trainer thaught him,but after sometime i saw him sitting very sad and alone he was missing his other fellows.after that day i never visited the zoo and started to hate that concept.by making zoo and keeping the animals there far from their fellows we are torturing them, they have feelings and humans should take care of them and their emotions.

as an adult i also run a compaign for animal rights and an animal shelter.animals are the part of our world and as a human being its our resposibilty to protect them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of closing zoos. However, the development is limited. While you provide a personal anecdote about a monkey, the argument lacks depth and fails to explore the broader complexities of the issue, such as the role of zoos in conservation, education, or scientific research. The ideas are somewhat repetitive, focusing primarily on the emotional aspect of animal captivity. To reach a higher band, you should provide a more balanced or multifaceted discussion, ensuring that your arguments are supported by more than just personal feelings or anecdotal evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a formal structure. It is composed of a series of short, somewhat disjointed paragraphs that do not follow a logical progression. There is a lack of cohesive devices (such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast') to link ideas between sentences and paragraphs. The transition between the introduction, the personal anecdote, and the conclusion is abrupt. To improve, you should organize your essay into clear paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs with distinct supporting points, and a conclusion. Using transition words will help guide the reader through your argument more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple words like 'bad', 'sad', and 'happy' (or 'enjoy'). There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'safari is more preferable as compare to zoo' and 'thaught him'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited and does not demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to animal welfare, conservation, and environmental ethics, and pay closer attention to correct word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('animals felt', 'monkey he was'), punctuation (missing spaces after commas and periods), and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or run-on, and there is a lack of complex sentence structures. For example, 'i extremely agree' should be 'I strongly agree'. The consistent lack of capitalization for 'I' and at the start of sentences significantly impacts the professionalism of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction, proper punctuation, and consistent capitalization will help improve your accuracy.
