Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people advocate that keeping animals in the zoos is an outdated and cruel practice for people's entertainments, and that animal should be free in their natural habitats. I completely agree with this assertion, because these days we have enough modern technologies to learn about wild-life or people should visit animals' natural habitat to learn about them. Furthermore, maintaining zoo facilities creats a missallocation of national resources.
First and foremost, there are several reasons why I hold this view. One possible reason is that modern technology provides a sufficient amount of scientific tools to learn about wild-life, such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and many more. Although this practice might create the social isolation problem among the youth, but it is far better than keeping animals in the zoos. They also have the freedom to live their life rather than staying in the zoos. For example, instead of keeping wild animals in a cage, government should focus on VR system, high level documentary to replace the traditional zoos.
Furthermore, maintaining the facilities of a zoo sometimes puts a massive burden on national economy, which often cause infrastructural strains. Anyone cannot denied that keeping animal in a zoo cause a detrimental impact on the biodiversities. Following these deadly practice, some animals might disappear in the future. For instance, some research shows the rates of lion reproduction decreased decreased dramaticaly between last 20 years.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that keeping animals in a cage is equivalent to death prison, so keep them free, give them a chance to live. the government should find a viable solution to overcome this issue.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding technology as a substitute for zoos and the economic burden of maintaining facilities are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the claim that zoos cause a 'detrimental impact on the biodiversities' is asserted but not fully explained or supported with robust evidence. The example regarding lion reproduction is a bit vague and lacks context. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and ensure that your examples directly support your main arguments rather than just stating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of some cohesive devices is slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the discussion of technology and the mention of social isolation is a bit abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'they' in the second paragraph, which could refer to either the youth or the animals.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at using less common items like 'missallocation', 'infrastructural strains', and 'detrimental impact'. However, there are several spelling errors ('creats', 'missallocation', 'dramaticaly') and some awkward collocations, such as 'death prison' and 'deadly practice'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise word choice and better proofreading. Expanding your range of academic vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'Some people advocate that keeping animals in the zoos is...', 'Although this practice might create... but it is...', and 'Anyone cannot denied that...'. The use of articles is also inconsistent, particularly with 'the zoos' and 'the biodiversities'. These errors occur frequently, although they rarely impede the overall meaning of the text. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and conjunctions.
