Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays global warming is increasing rapidly with time and the increasing in number of hunters effects wildlife creatures. therefor the government should take step to make reliable life for animals, so zoos should be closed. I totally disagree with statement because there is not too much availability of services for animals in forest.
On the one hand, zoo are established for those animals that are unable to find food daily because of their age and any disability, so government built zoos for that type of animals. Moreover, more public visit zoos and concern about the extent of wild creatures. Many species of birds and animals such as peacock, sparrow and lions on their edge to extent, so many zoos include them to increase their number. For example, my state has one of the largest animal reservation at Junagadh known as Vantara, where thousand of animals preserved and take care for those animals who are on their extent.
On the other hand, It can help to improves country's reputation and attract more tourism. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. You address the prompt by providing reasons for your disagreement, such as the role of zoos in conservation and education. However, some ideas are under-developed. For instance, the claim that zoos help with 'country's reputation' is mentioned but not fully explained. Additionally, there is some confusion in the first paragraph where you mention global warming and hunters, which are not directly linked to the core argument about zoos. To reach a higher band, ensure that every point directly supports your main thesis and provides more depth in your examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'On the one hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the use of 'therefor' (spelled incorrectly) at the start of the essay. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition between the general role of zoos and the specific example of 'Vantara' could be smoother. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the flow between sentences could be improved with more varied linking words.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'wildlife creatures', 'conservation', 'biologist', and 'practical knowledge'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'cag type of van' (cage-type vehicle) and 'on their edge to extent' (on the verge of extinction). These errors occasionally impede the precision of your argument. To improve, focus on learning the correct collocations for academic writing and pay closer attention to word forms, such as using 'extinction' instead of 'extent'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'zoo are established', 'it can provides') and article usage (e.g., 'take step', 'on field'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors throughout. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the text. To improve, focus on basic grammatical rules like pluralisation and verb conjugation, and proofread your work to catch these small but persistent slips.
