Student answer (Band 5.0)
Animals play a vital role in our ecosystem. and most of animal's species are in endanger. I am totally agreeing with that that there is no need to keep animals in zoos.
Overview, Animals are also a part of our ecosystem they play crucial role in our life. the reason it that that most of animals are essential of us. they protect human beings from harms of nature. that's why there is no need to keep animals in zoos.
firstly, some animals have lots of species and most are in danger, is due hunters and the zoos managements. For example, deer is source of food for carnivores, and the hunter captivate deer just for earning money in that case the species of deer are in danger, and carnivores are also in endanger. in zoos they also captivate African elephant which destroy their breeding which cause of loss of the species are of African elephant endangered. another example is the national animal of Pakistan Markhor remains limited in Pakistan is due to hunting. in that case Pakistani government band on hunting Markhor.
Secondly, in zoos they feed animals well, but they disturbed the breeding of many animals. For example, they captivate female tigress in zoo, and the male are alone in forests, so they disturbed them. because without fair no livings can breed. another example is that that parrots in zoos net breed well, the reason is too much noise in zoo and the environment of zoo. which cause their species in endanger. therefore, zoos cause the habitat species in engender. In contrast, after some decades the species of most of animals become destroyed.
In conclusion, the government should close the zoos to save the animals lives and their species. if animals become lower form ecosystem it will directly effect the whole nature. that's why there is nood need of zoo..

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against zoos. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you provide examples like the African elephant and the Markhor, the logic connecting these to the necessity of closing zoos is sometimes unclear or tangential. For instance, the argument about hunting and government bans on hunting is relevant to conservation but does not directly explain why zoos specifically should be closed. To improve, ensure every point directly supports your central argument and avoid over-generalising about the role of zoos in species extinction. The response is somewhat repetitive in its reasoning, which limits the depth of the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as starting a paragraph with 'Overview' instead of a transition word. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly with the use of 'they' and 'that', which makes it difficult to follow the intended meaning. The logical flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors, which hinders the overall coherence of the argument. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring clear pronoun references would significantly improve the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'animals', 'species', and 'endanger' (incorrectly used as a verb). There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'captivate' (which means to charm) instead of 'capture' or 'confine', and 'band' instead of 'banned'. The phrase 'no livings can breed' is unnatural. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and correct collocations. Expanding your range of synonyms and learning the correct word forms (e.g., 'endangered' vs 'in danger') will help you express your ideas more clearly and professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of animal's species are in endanger'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'the reason it that that most of animals are essential of us.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary periods and capitalization errors. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tenses would be a highly effective way to improve your score.
