Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against closing zoos. However, the essay fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the arguments regarding economic benefits and educational value are relevant, they are under-developed and lack depth. The points are presented as a list rather than a cohesive argument, and the conclusion is brief. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples or logical reasoning to reach the required length and provide a more comprehensive discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic paragraphing, but the logical progression is often hindered by awkward phrasing and limited use of cohesive devices. While some transitions like 'Moreover' and 'In addition' are used, they are sometimes placed incorrectly or do not effectively link the ideas. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'they give us information of all kinds of animals which are keep in zoo'. The overall structure is present, but the flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors, making the text feel somewhat disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'moved to closed position' instead of 'should be closed' and 'increased the capital' instead of 'boosted the economy'. Phrases like 'seventh heaven' are used, but they are not entirely appropriate for an academic essay. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision, and the persistent errors in basic word forms (e.g., 'helpfull' instead of 'helpful') indicate a need for more focus on accurate word usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('Zoos plays', 'animals keep'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain errors in complex structures, such as 'Government should also take steps towards to giving discounts'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the misuse of apostrophes (e.g., 'Zoo’s' instead of 'Zoos'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band score.
