Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is commonly believed that individuals no longer need to have animals kept in zoos, so zoos ought to be closed. I partially disagree with this statement due to some factors which i will discuss in the upcoming paragraphs.

On the one hand, there are some aspects associated with this statement. Firstly, animals have also right to live with freedom. To explain it, like humans animals have also their own freedom to live according to their wish due to which they live without any difficulties. Secondly, they forced to do performance and often they are humiliated by their trainers. To elaborate it, animals feel deprived from their original habitat which force them to lead a life of human choice.

On the other hand, there are myriad aspects as to why i disagree. The important one is that harmful for human beings. In simple words, when zoos are closed and animals freely go anywhere owing to which animals harm to people as wells as it also lead the cause of death. Moreover, animals do not get better nutrients. In other words, if zoos close so animals go anywhere to search of when they do not find food and they suffering from starving of food as they might become the factor of animals extinction.

To conclude, animals have right to live with freedom and they forced to do performance in the zoos are major cause of this statement, I deem that its harmful for inhabitants as well as do not get better nutrients cannot be neglected.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a partially disagreeing stance. However, the development of ideas is limited and sometimes illogical. For instance, the argument that closing zoos would lead to animals roaming freely and harming humans is a weak, speculative point that lacks depth. Similarly, the claim that animals would face starvation if zoos closed ignores the concept of natural habitats. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments are under-developed and rely on generalizations rather than logical reasoning. To improve, you should focus on providing more realistic, well-supported arguments, such as the role of zoos in conservation, education, or scientific research, rather than focusing on the immediate release of animals into urban areas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'To explain it' and 'In other words'. The transition between ideas is occasionally abrupt, and the logical flow within paragraphs is hindered by awkward phrasing. For example, the transition 'owing to which animals harm to people' is grammatically disjointed and makes the progression of the argument difficult to follow. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother, more cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'harmful', 'better', and 'freedom'. There are also instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'humiliated by their trainers' and 'factor of animals extinction'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your message. To reach a higher band, you need to incorporate a more precise and varied vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'conservation', 'captivity', 'endangered species', or 'ethical implications'. Focusing on collocations—words that naturally go together—will also help make your writing sound more natural and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'animals have also right'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'they forced to do performance'), and subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'animals harm to people'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb.
