Student answer (Band 5.0)

There is no need to keep wild life in zoos, so they must be closed. I personaly disagree with this statment.

I belive it is a type of safety net for many wild life species, their are many endangerd species that where about to be wiped out for earth but due to these enclosed envirments they have been saved and brought back. It is also important to have strict criterea and rules, to make sure that the animal has a healthy and happy life because this is the main reason that many people oppose zoos and are aginst them.

I aslo belive that people of all ages those are not fortunate enough to go out in the wild life or are afride can just go to a facality, to experince the beauty of wild life live with their own naked eye, this is something i would recommend everyone to do once in their live time. My personnal experience was when i was 13 years old boy and i still remember the fell of seeing my favorite animal a lion. I was soo happy and to be honest no camera can do justice to the beauty of any animal.

So in conclusion i disagree with the statement that their should be no place where a normal person can go, witness the beauty of wild life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against closing zoos. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of the arguments. While the ideas regarding conservation and education are relevant, they are underdeveloped. The points are stated rather than fully extended with detailed examples or logical analysis. Because the response is 26 words short of the minimum, it fails to meet the length requirement, which negatively impacts the overall task achievement score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into four short paragraphs, which provides a basic structure. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and often repetitive (e.g., 'It is also important', 'I also believe'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the transition between the conservation argument and the educational argument. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of depth in the content makes the overall flow feel mechanical rather than fluid.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'personaly', 'statment', 'belive', 'endangerd', 'envirments', 'criterea', 'aginst', 'aslo', 'facality', 'experince', 'afride', and 'personnal'. These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone of the essay. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to incorporate more sophisticated or academic terminology to support their arguments effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'their are many endangerd species that where about to be wiped out for earth'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several comma splices and missing articles. The frequency of errors is high, which occasionally impedes the reader's flow, though the meaning remains generally understandable. A greater variety of error-free complex structures is needed to reach a higher band.
