Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays zoos become more deserted so, government need to clear all animals in zoo and also off it. But this have many disadvantages. I am totally disagree with is statement because zoo is a place that helped people to relax. Below, I will explain some reasons and examples that support my opinion.

First of all, If the government close the zoos then this bring many disadvantages for humanity because zoo is a place that contain many habitats and also many species. On Sunday mostly parents comes in zoo with their child's and enjoy with their children and when zoos closed then all this activities closed.

Zoo bring many facilities for a country because it is connected with economy condition. For example in Europe, every country have several big zoos and this helped them in growing their economy because in these countries a huge amount of people visit zoo and people needs to pay a ticket for entry and this phenomenon helped in developing a country.

second of all, zoos paly a essential role in our lives because zoo is a place that contain a lot of animals and when students and also other citizens come into the zoo and saw many animals then this helped them to learn about many varieties of animals because in cities mostly people not know about animals and when they saw animals and they make many videos of them and share them on social media and also feel happy.

In conclusion, many people say's zoo is not a important thing but I think zoos are very beneficial thing for human and also for country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against closing zoos. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention economic benefits and educational value, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about parents visiting with children is a surface-level observation rather than a well-developed argument. To improve, you should focus on providing more specific examples or logical explanations that connect your points to the broader debate about animal welfare versus conservation, which is central to this topic. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments need more substance to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all' and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is often mechanical, and some transitions are awkward, such as 'But this have many disadvantages' at the start. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear; for example, 'this phenomenon' is used vaguely. To improve, try to use a wider range of linking words and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother, more professional progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive words like 'zoo', 'animals', and 'things'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'clear all animals' instead of 'remove' or 'relocate', and 'off it' which is unclear. You attempt some topic-specific vocabulary, but it is often used incorrectly or in a simplistic way. To improve, focus on learning synonyms and collocations related to environmental and social issues to express your ideas with more sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('parents comes', 'people needs'), incorrect verb tenses ('when zoos closed'), and missing articles. The sentence structures are mostly simple or compound, with very few attempts at complex sentences. When complex structures are attempted, they often contain errors, such as 'If the government close the zoos then this bring...'. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and practice constructing more complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions.
