Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is an undeniable fact that, animals are keep in zoos for economic purpose as well as entertainment. On that note, it asserts that there is no necessity to keep animals in animal parks, therefore zoos may be closed. This essay will discuss why I disagree with the aforementioned notion and the reasons for my inclination have been articulated in upcoming paragraphs.

There are several reasons why I do not believe this. The first and foremost reason is, People want avail themselves of all luxuries and because of this they are cutting trees, using fuels and other resources. To exemplify, deforestation is the biggest reason for animal extinction, so zoos are the best place to keep them alive and provide foods. Another striking reason is rapid development of urbanization. In other words, many individuals are migrating to cities for better education and advanced facilities, consequently many buildings are constructed for accommodation and business purpose, consequently animal lands are used for this development, which restrict their way of living. Hence, zoos are necessary for animal protections and prevent them for extinction.

On the other hands, some individuals agree with this phenomenon due to some reasons. In addition to that, keeping animals in zoos, loss their ability to hunt. for instance, wild animals need huge forest, which provides small breed animals as a food source because hunting is a natural process to continue a lifecycle. To initiate with, some people believe that animals should live in their natural place, but not for entertainment purpose. Additionally, they do not have rights to kept them in zoos with little space because it affects their natural process of breeding as well as living. So, animals park should be closed.

To conclude, even though, it restricts their ability to hunt, I firmly believe that animal should kept in zoos because of reasons like, protect them from extinction and rapid urbanization.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide reasons for your disagreement (deforestation and urbanization), the explanation of these points is occasionally repetitive or lacks depth. For instance, the link between urbanization and the necessity of zoos could be more explicitly connected to conservation efforts. The counter-argument paragraph is present, but it is slightly underdeveloped, and the transition between the two sides could be smoother to ensure a more balanced and comprehensive discussion. Overall, the task is addressed, but the arguments require more nuanced support to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To exemplify', 'In other words', and 'To conclude'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'consequently' in the second paragraph. Additionally, the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, which makes the progression of ideas feel a bit disjointed at times. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used to create a natural, logical flow would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'extinction', 'urbanization', and 'accommodation'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'animals are keep in zoos' (should be 'kept'), 'avail themselves of all luxuries', and 'animal lands'. These errors occasionally impede the precision of your argument. To improve, focus on learning the correct collocations for academic topics and ensure you are using verbs and nouns in their correct forms. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with verb forms and subject-verb agreement, such as 'animals are keep', 'many buildings are constructed... consequently animal lands are used', and 'animal should kept'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some comma splices and missing articles. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding your points, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and impact the overall fluency of the essay. You need to focus on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for common errors.
