Student answer (Band 6.0)

All living beings have the freedom to live freely as no one like to be captivated. Everyone should have the right or choice to live as they want and same applies for animals and birds too.

The reason for constructing zoo in the ancient time was only to keep wild animals in cages. As the public visited zoos to observe the wild or rare animals in reality the zookeepers used to charge money for it. Children especially loves to visit zoo to watch variey of animals or birds at one place as they find it fascinating and refreshing. But this was all about earlier times.

There are several disadvantages of zoos. For example, there is a limited area for them to roam around, they may be separated from their family, they get limited amount of food, they tend to lose their natural ability to hunt for food, and may develop physical and mental health issues.

Now we have developed various technologies and techniques to show the people a range of animals and birds. With technology of AI, everyone have the access to search and know more about anything in the world, including the information about animals too. By generating a 3d photograph or 3d modals of animals, everyone have the accessibility to watch animals closely and learn about them. So, there is no longer a need to have animals kept in zoo or cages, so zoos should be closed.

Animals should be released from the cages or artifical infrastructure and should be released into the forest or their natural habitat. Captivating animals should be strictly prohibited for everyone and strict laws should be enforced against this issue.

So to conclude, there is no longer a need for zoos and so, it should be closed permanently.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of closing zoos. The ideas are relevant, particularly the contrast between traditional zoo functions and modern technological alternatives. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you mention the disadvantages of zoos, such as physical and mental health issues, these points are listed rather than fully explored or supported with specific examples. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments by providing more detailed explanations or real-world examples of how technology is effectively replacing the educational role of zoos, rather than just stating that it is possible.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the arguments and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For instance, you rely heavily on simple transitions like 'For example' and 'So'. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to create a more natural, sophisticated connection between your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'natural habitat' and 'artificial infrastructure', but there is a reliance on basic vocabulary such as 'good', 'bad', or 'things'. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'captivated' (which usually refers to being charmed) instead of 'kept in captivity'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and less common academic vocabulary to express your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'everyone have the access', 'children... loves') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that slightly impede the flow. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate more consistent control over complex structures and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical slips.
