Student answer (Band 5.5)

Without qualm, zoos plays an important role in protecting animals and educating people. we no longer need to be have animals kept in zoos, ergo zoos ought to be closed. I vehementely discord with the given statement. A number of arguements surround my standpoint.

There are innumerable reasons why I discord with the given statement. To commence with, zoos can be contributed of endangered species. some animals are threatened inasmuch of either hunting or climate change. In brief, if animals will be stayed at zoos, the can get proper food, medical care and protection from predators. To cite an example, the famous zoo in the USA participate in breeding programmes for rare animals and later support conservatiom projects in their natural habitat . Apart from this, zoos provide an opportunity for people to learn about wildlife. Majority of both adults and children may never have a chance to visit and learn a profusion of things about wildlife. As a result; the encourage other people also to visit and take care of environment.

In addition, some zoos keep animals at unsuitable place, which can negatively affect the well-being. Government ought to be introduced strict rule and rugulations for keeping safe animals because it is the old cliche if we treat animals it feels like treating god.

Summing up, albeit well-managed zoos can support wildlife conservation and educate the public, I firmly believe that the must follow strict animal-welfare standards.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against closing zoos. However, the essay fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the main points regarding conservation and education are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped due to the brevity of the response. The conclusion is also quite abrupt. To improve, you should expand on your supporting examples and ensure each body paragraph provides a more thorough explanation of your arguments to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a more comprehensive exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Apart from this', and 'In addition'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as the use of 'ergo' in the introduction. Additionally, the logical flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus that transitions smoothly into the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items like 'innumerable', 'profusion', and 'conservation'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'zoos can be contributed of' and 'the old cliche if we treat animals it feels like treating god'. These errors occasionally make the meaning less precise. To reach a higher band, focus on learning the correct collocations for the words you use and avoid using complex vocabulary if you are not entirely sure of its correct context or usage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('zoos plays', 'the must follow'), incorrect verb forms ('be have animals kept', 'if animals will be stayed'), and punctuation errors (the semicolon usage). These errors are noticeable and occasionally impede the flow of reading. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and tense consistency before attempting more complex sentence structures. Proofreading for common slips like 'the' instead of 'they' would also be beneficial.
