Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued that there is no need to have animals kept in zoos, so zoos should be closed. I strongly agree with this statement that there is no need to kept animals in the zoo.

One main reason why i agree with this view is animals also need freedom of there own choise they do have there emotions and feelings. They sometimes feels lonely for missing there family and also may feel hunger so when it kept in zoo they are forced to entertain the people. For example imagine u kept in closed room for one day gaving food in unusual time or forced to entertain how u feel so it is same case for animals also and at the same time animals are very kind hearted they dont harm us without a reason so it is completely safe for us also. Therefor animals should not be kept in the zoos.

Another important reason is that by keeping animals in tht zoo may decrease their species and they feel pressered and also they loss interst on their lives and some researches says that pressure giving to animals is not good for their health.

In conclusion, there is no longer need to have animalsin zoo so i strongly believe that zoos should be closed for animals health and to save their speices and for frindly behavior with them we should definitly need to took action on this and save animals so it will help them and for their lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student addresses the task by clearly stating a position agreeing with the closure of zoos. Main ideas are presented, such as animal freedom, emotional well-being, and conservation concerns, meeting the basic requirements of Task Achievement. However, the development of these ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. For example, the argument regarding emotional feelings and loneliness is supported with an informal hypothetical scenario ("imagine u kept in closed room") rather than fully extended, academic reasoning. Additionally, the reasoning that keeping animals in zoos decreases their species lacks precision. While a clear position is maintained throughout, the ideas remain under-developed, aligning best with Band 5.0 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organised into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a basic attempt at logical progression; however, the overall cohesion is frequently faulty and repetitive. Cohesive devices are minimal or inaccurate, such as repetitive reliance on conversational connectors like "Another important reason" and "In conclusion". Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs is disrupted by run-on sentences and a lack of clear referencing, such as ambiguous pronoun usage ("when it kept in zoo"). The overall structure shows some organisation, but mechanical and inadequate cohesion places this at a Band 5.0 level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, representing a limited range adequate only for simple communication. Words and phrases such as "kind hearted," "frindly behavior," and "loss interst" reflect noticeable spelling errors and imprecise word choices. The student attempts less common items like "conservation" (implied by saving species) or "pressered," but these lead to noticeable errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Due to the restricted vocabulary range and frequent lexical inaccuracies, the response satisfies the criteria for Band 4.5, which is rounded to a 5.0 descriptor profile for limited adequacy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most complex sentences attempted are heavily flawed, containing frequent errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. Examples include "there is no need to kept animals in the zoo" and "pressure giving to animals is not good." Punctuation is also problematic, featuring run-on sentences with missing punctuation marks, such as in the second paragraph where multiple independent clauses are linked improperly. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a Band 4.0 to 4.5 control of grammar, resulting in a score of 4.5.
