Student answer (Band 5.0)

We no more need to kept animals in zoos, so zoos shuold be closed. I completely disagree with this view. The narrative ahead shall articulate justifications of my belief before arriving at a rational conclusion.

To begin with the primary reason to support my argument, zoos should use a virtual 3D technology for visitors. To elaborate more, this 3D technology helps people to see perfect size of animals without any disturbance and children also watch their favourite wild animal without fear. Hense, this type of zoos requird less maintenance and no need to kept animals in cage and amimals also live their lives independently without public interaction. For instance, many developed amusement parks use 3D screen for children to show them animals.

Furthermore, zoos should transform into the small wild adventure parks. This is because, many people who lives near at parks, they would like to spend their leisure time and explore and other visitors also come from neighbour city or town to enjoy their weekends. Thus, this kind of transformation continues earning of zoos which lead the boost in economy from zoos and also small birds and animals make habitat in parks. To cite an example, many zoos tranformed into the parks and exhibition for public in India, due to extinction of some species.

To sum up, taking the above metioned reasons into consideration, I restate my disagreement zoos shuold work with technology and continue earning, without disturbing animals and kept them into cages, to boost economy from zoos.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position ('I completely disagree with this view') and attempts to support this with ideas regarding virtual 3D technology and small wild adventure parks. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat confused and contradictory. For instance, the first body paragraph argues that zoos should use virtual 3D technology so that animals can live independently without public interaction, yet the prompt specifically asks about animals kept in zoos. The transition from physical zoos to virtual displays modifies the topic rather than addressing whether live animals should still be kept in zoos. Furthermore, the conclusion introduces the idea that zoos should 'work with technology' without fully clarifying how live animal exhibition is handled. Consequently, the task response is somewhat superficial, earning a band score of 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices and transition signals, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'To sum up'. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and confusing transitions. For example, the sentence 'The narrative ahead shall articulate justifications of my belief before arriving at a rational conclusion' is overly formal and unnatural. Within paragraphs, referencing and logical links are sometimes unclear, as seen in 'Thus, this kind of transformation continues earning of zoos which lead the boost in economy from zoos'. Paragraphing is present, but overall cohesion feels mechanical and strained, matching the descriptors for band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word choice and morphology. Examples include 'no more need to kept animals' instead of 'keep', 'amimals' (spelling error), 'Hense', 'requird', 'metioned', and 'tranformed'. While the student attempts less common phrases such as 'virtual 3D technology' and 'leisure time', inaccuracies in collocation and word forms are frequent. Words are often used incorrectly in context, such as 'continuous earning of zoos which lead the boost in economy'. These lexical limitations and frequent spelling errors cause some difficulty for the reader, placing the response firmly at band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are multiple persistent grammatical errors, including tense and infinitive mistakes ('We no more need to kept', 'no need to kept animals in cage'), subject-verb agreement issues ('many people who lives near at parks'), and missing articles or prepositions ('due to extinction of some species', 'boost in economy from zoos'). Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also weak, leading to run-on structures like 'Thus, this kind of transformation continues earning of zoos which lead the boost in economy from zoos and also small birds and animals make habitat in parks.' These frequent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader, justifying a band score of 4.5.
