Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the recent years, the significance of zoos is the matter of subject. A substantial number of individuals are of view that the animal captivation have a few major drawbacks and they should be free rather than in a zoo. I firmly disagree with this suggestion as the wildlife authorities have an experience and knowledge to handle various types of species in zoos.
In this contemporary society, our ecosystem are in great threat due to the environmental contamination. This situation can pose a serious threat to wild animals who are without any restrictions. Although residing in forests provide animals a sence of independance, but it can be life threatening. Despite having free will various small species are becoming extint due to the global warming. The animals in the zoos are without any protection and can be endangered if certain measure are not taken to overcome this issue. To illustrate, various kinds of small species are becoming prey of the large predators who needs diet for their survival in the jungle.
On the other hand, in zoos, all animals are in better hands and they can be treated well according to their nature. A specialized team get hired for the healthcare of these animals who are living in zoos. These doctors are well aware of the needs of these animals and the authorities are responsible for their diet and well-being, whereas wildlife do not offer these kind of safeguard. Moreover, zoos are one of the major sources of the income for the economy. A visit to zoo can have several merits on childrens' mental health and it can enhance their productivity. For instance, a lot of educational institutions consider it a part of academic studies to visit a zoo to be close to the nature.
I tend to support the concept that zoos play a significant role in not only on our society but also on economy. Without them wildlife can be in serious threath.
To conclude, underestimating the significance of zoos can actually demotivate them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You clearly present your position in the introduction by stating, 'I firmly disagree with this suggestion,' and you maintain this stance throughout the essay. You attempt to address the task by discussing ecosystem threats, animal safety, healthcare, and economic or educational benefits of zoos. However, some of your arguments are slightly confused or contradictory, such as stating 'The animals in the zoos are without any protection' when your main point is that zoos actually do protect them. Furthermore, your conclusion contains a confusing phrase: 'underestimating the significance of zoos can actually demotivate them,' which is unclear. Because you present a clear position and address the prompt with relevant ideas, though with some minor confusion in expression and development, you meet the criteria for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
Your essay has a recognizable overall structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, fulfilling the basic organisational needs. You use paragraphing to separate main ideas, such as discussing ecosystem risks and animal safety in the second paragraph and healthcare and economic benefits in the third. However, your use of cohesive devices is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, you use 'Although residing in forests provide animals a sence of independance, but it can be life threatening,' which incorrectly pairs 'although' with 'but.' Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the final sentence where the pronoun 'them' lacks a clear antecedent. Progression is somewhat impacted by these lapses, placing your cohesion at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You display an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'environmental contamination,' 'specialized team,' and 'predators.' However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors throughout the response. For instance, you write 'the significance of zoos is the matter of subject' instead of 'a matter of debate,' 'animal captivation' instead of 'captivity,' and 'becoming extint' instead of 'extinct.' You also make a word form error in the conclusion with 'demotivate them.' While these errors do not impede overall communication, they restrict your lexical score to a 5.5, as the inaccuracies are frequent enough to detract from precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional or concessive clauses like 'Although residing in forests provide animals a sence of independance...' However, your writing contains frequent grammatical and punctuation errors. There are subject-verb agreement issues, such as 'our ecosystem are' (instead of 'is'), 'forests provide... provide' with a plural subject matching a singular verb error ('residing... provide'), and 'large predators who needs diet' (instead of 'need a diet'). You also misspell 'sense' as 'sence' and 'extinct' as 'extint.' Because errors occur frequently across both simple and complex structures, albeit without entirely impeding communication, your performance aligns with Band 5.5.
