Student answer (Band 5.0)
Zoos are the place where animal are kept in cage to attract visitor for the source of income. However, this practice is very suppressing for those animal who can't experience freedom. So I will discuss about that zoos should be remained closed and I fully contradict the current situation of keeping animals in zoo.
Firstly, the earth is home for all the living creatures, so any activities done regarding the animal for attracting tourist must be faced several charges. Wildlife is home of all animals and they must live in captivity. The primary goal for human-being to pro-free animal in zoo is not to destroy forest for our own benefits. Our main responsibility is not to destroy animal habitat for our own benefits.
As we know in zoo animals have limited freedom, can't choose freely what to eat. In contrast, in wild there isn't any restriction for these activities. The main problem is nature structure policies. If visitors want to see a variety of animals, they definitely can go for safari trip, which limits the involvement of animals in national parks. Several species are being already wiped out in wild, which may be challenging for us .
In nutshell zoos should be partly closed because it should be working on endangered species rather than encaging animals. Therefore it is important to keep in mind about the hardship they face in caged structure, and generating awareness studies among resident of each locality for working in the purpose of animal. So zoos must be closed and the owner running zoo must have an alternative for their visitor, benefitting both animals and humans.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student presents a clear position on the topic, stating that they fully disagree with keeping animals in zoos. The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing the confinement of animals, the lack of freedom, and offering alternative ideas such as safaris. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, with sweeping statements like "the earth is home for all the living creatures" that lack deeper elaboration. Furthermore, there is some contradiction or vagueness in the argument, such as the statement in the conclusion that zoos "should be partly closed because it should be working on endangered species," which muddies the previously stated absolute opposition. These tendencies keep the response at a Band 5.5 to 6 level, reflecting an attempt to address the prompt fully, but with under-developed support.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay has a recognizable overall progression and is divided into four distinct paragraphs. Basic cohesive devices are attempted, such as "Firstly," "In contrast," and "In nutshell." However, referencing and cohesion are frequently faulty or mechanical. For instance, the transition "As we know in zoo animals have limited freedom" lacks smooth integration. Paragraphing is present, but internal logical progression is often hindered by abrupt shifts in ideas. The phrase "In nutshell" is missing the article "a," and sentences frequently follow a repetitive structural pattern. While the text is coherent enough to be understood overall, the mechanical nature of the cohesive devices and occasional unclear links place this criterion firmly at Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including words such as "captivity," "endangered species," and "habitat." However, there are numerous word choice errors and awkward collocations that impede precision and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include "animal are kept in cage" (pluralization and article errors), "very suppressing for those animal" (incorrect adjective form), "pro-free animal" (coined, non-standard phrasing), and "generating awareness studies" (unnatural collocation). Spelling is generally acceptable, but the frequent inaccuracies in word formation and lexical chunks constrain the score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. There are persistent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ("animal are kept," "zoos should be remained"), missing articles ("in zoo," "in wild"), and incorrect prepositional usage. For instance, the sentence "So I will discuss about that zoos should be remained closed" contains both an unnecessary preposition after "discuss" and an incorrect passive voice construction. Punctuation is also sparse and sometimes inaccurate. Although the meaning can generally be deciphered, the high frequency of grammatical errors places this criterion at a Band 5.0.
