Student answer (Band 6.0)
We no longer need to keep animals at the zoo, zoos should be closed be closed. I dont think this is a good idea because keeping animals in zoo is safe for both human beings and animals.
Dangerous animals like tiger and other wild animals should be kept in zoos for people safety. Yes, they should enjoy their freedom in forest but for their safety it is important to keep them in zoo. Peope may hunt wild animals for different reasons like body parts and meat too. some animals are threathened because of hunting, habitat destruction and also climate change. zoos can provide them a better safety and habitat.
Another advantages of zoos is for educational value. Students can visit zoo for their education to learn about diffrent animals and birds. many people, especially children have limited opportunities to look animals in their habitat. Visiting the zoos can help them to learn about different animals and can also learn to protect wildlife for animals. Zoos can also raise public awareness to people for preserving wildlife.
However, keeping animals in small space can affect negatively to animals in both physical and pschylogical well being. Zoo mostly focus on entertainment purpose rather than its conservation. so zoo shouls also be very careful regarding animals physical health and pschylogical health.
In conclusion, it is very important to keep them safe for different purpose like educational, entertainment and mostly for their safety. Although, poorly managed animals can harm animals, i dont think all zoos should be closed. Properly regulated zoos can play an important role in conservation and education, animal welfare should be first priority.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the prompt, taking a clear position that zoos should not be closed. The response includes relevant ideas such as animal safety, protection from hunting, educational value, and animal welfare concerns. However, some ideas are a bit repetitive and under-developed, such as the brief concession regarding physical and psychological well-being. The position is maintained throughout the essay, meeting the requirements for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is arranged into a logical structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs supporting different viewpoints, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Another advantages of zoos', 'However', and 'In conclusion', although there are some mechanical transitions and minor errors in referencing. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as safety, education, and animal welfare, giving the overall response a coherent flow that aligns with Band 6.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'habitat destruction', 'public awareness', and 'psychological well-being'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'pschylogical', 'diffrent', 'threathened', and 'Peope'. Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without impeding communication, fitting the Band 6.0 criteria well.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and concessive structures like 'Although, poorly managed animals can harm animals, i dont think all zoos should be closed.' There are several grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('zoo shouls also be very careful'), missing capitalization for 'I', and plural/singular inconsistencies ('look animals in their habitat'). These errors rarely impede communication, reflecting a Band 6.0 level of grammatical control.
