Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people argue that the keeping zoo ia no longer necessary and that all zoos should therefore be a closed. Icompeletly agree with this view keeping wild animals in captivity can negative effect their well being, while modern technology can alternative way to educate the people about wildlife.
Firstly, animals are suffering at zoo, ecause their living condition are different from the natural habitat, wild animal need large area to move freely, search for food and interqact with other animals and in the zoo people irritated them and behaving more different and the cages of the zoo is not cleaned all the time, thats why they have more medical issues and donot move from one place. As the results some animals may stress and develop unnatural behaviors. For example, elephants and lions wants large area which is challenge to provide in zoo. Therefore, keeping sich animals capativity may reduce their quality of life.
Secondly, there are now better ways for people to learn about animals withour keeping them into cages. Documentries, wild life have the all rights to check the environments. Moreover, in our country in every rooftop have a tiny ages for enormous animals like, tiger, lions etc. they have much space to move. The main thing is wildlife people never will go to that types people. Only new reporter went to their home and consult about everthing. This would allow animals to live in this environments that are not suitable for these animals.
In conclusion, i strongly agree that these zoos should be closed beacuse captivity and negativity effect wild animals and prevent them from natural habitat. Instead society should focus on protecting wildlife in its natural habitat and use modern technology to educate individuals about animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The student addresses the prompt by clearly taking a stance in agreement with closing zoos, supporting their position with reasons such as animal welfare issues and the availability of educational technology like documentaries. However, the development of ideas is often hindered by unclear phrasing and abrupt shifts in logic, particularly in the third paragraph where the mention of rooftops and news reporters becomes confusing and digresses from the main argument. The position is stated clearly at the beginning and end, but the reasoning lacks the depth and extension required for higher bands. Overall, it satisfies the basic requirements of the task by addressing all parts, earning a Band 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing basic paragraphing structure. However, logical progression is severely disrupted by poor cohesion and confusing transitions. While basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' are used to structure the text, internal sentence-to-sentence linking is often faulty or mechanical. Referencing is frequently unclear, particularly with pronouns like 'they' and 'this', making it difficult to follow the flow of arguments, especially in the second body paragraph. This places the response firmly at Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word formation and spelling throughout the essay, such as 'ia', 'Icompeletly', 'sich', 'capativity', and 'negativity'. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary related to the topic—such as 'captivity', 'natural habitat', and 'documentaries'—inaccuracies in word choice and collocation are frequent. Words are sometimes used in incorrect grammatical forms, for example, using 'negativity' instead of 'negative' or 'negatively'. These lexical errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader, aligning the response with Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles, subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'wild animal need', 'elephants and lions wants'), and incorrect prepositions. Run-on sentences and punctuation slips are also common, such as comma splices and uncapitalized pronouns. While some simple structures are accurate, attempts at complex sentences frequently result in faulty syntax that impedes communication and creates ambiguity, warranting a Band 5.0.
