Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that we do not need to kept the animals in zoos, because they think that we have no rights to imprision animal in cages. I strongly disagree with this point of view, i am going to explain this in essay.

However, Zoos are an important source for childrens and adults to see those animals which are harmfull and not easy to see in our daily lives. Moreover, thousands of people visits zoo monthly all around the world. Mostly, they are curious to see those animals which they only saw in TVs and mobile phones. Childrens are curious alot to see the Lions and Tigers in real life. For Instance, Report from zoo association, government not earn a alot from zoos thier main motive is to educate and provide such wild life easy acesible to peoples of thier states.

On the other hand, zoos also play an important role in preserving those species which are in danger of extinction. There are a lot of such animals, which are just remained in a countable numbers. So, zoos plays an important role in saving these species for our next generation and giving them a balanced enviornment. Zoos save these species from eaten or attacked by hunter. For Example, Markhor is a national animal of pakistan is aslo facing a danger on extinction just because of too much hunting in past.

In Conclusion, Zoos plays an important role in saving endangered species, and also make them available for locals to see many types of wild animals easily at one place.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response presents a clear position ('I strongly disagree with this point of view') and addresses both sides of the prompt to some extent, discussing the educational value of zoos and their role in species preservation. Ideas are supported with examples, such as mentioning the Markhor and referencing children and adults visiting zoos. However, some arguments are underdeveloped or lack specific details, such as the vague reference to a 'Report from zoo association'. Furthermore, there is some confusion in the first paragraph where the writer states 'because they think that we have no rights...', which slightly obscures the presentation of the initial counter-argument. Overall, all parts of the task are addressed, earning a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay is divided into paragraphs, including a clear introduction and conclusion, giving the overall arrangement coherence. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'In Conclusion' are used to signal the progression of ideas, although some connections feel a bit mechanical or simplistic. Paragraphing is attempted, but the body paragraphs are somewhat dense and could be broken down further for better logical flow. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'which are just remained in a countable numbers'. Progression is visible, but more precise logical transitions would elevate this score.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms like 'endangered species', 'extinction', and 'wild life'. However, there are numerous noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation throughout the text. Examples include 'kept' instead of 'keep', 'imprision' instead of 'imprison', 'harmfull' instead of 'harmful', 'acesible' instead of 'accessible', and 'enviornment' instead of 'environment'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they reflect a limited control over less common lexical items, placing this response firmly in the Band 5.0 category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the response. There are frequent errors in verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and articles. For example, 'we do not need to kept the animals', 'i am going to explain this in essay', 'government not earn a alot from zoos thier main motive', and 'Zoos plays'. Punctuation is also problematic, notably with comma splices in sentences like 'I strongly disagree with this point of view, i am going to explain this in essay.' Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.
