IELTS Writing Task 2 question

We no longer need to have animals kept in zoos, so zoos should be closed.

Do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is argued that animals should no longer live in protected areas because this is a violation of animal rights.Though zoos hinders animal freedom of movement i totally disagree. zoos are tourist sites and when animal live there they are protected.

zoos act as tourist sites and whenever people come and visit the animals they pay money which can boost the economy of a country.For example some countries have reported increase in their revenue due to animal tourism i.e Rwanda.

Additionally animals in the zoo are protected from predators. This helps to keep the species for a long time. while if they are set free they can be slaughtered and after many years we will loose some of the species. Furthermore some animals are dangerous to humans, setting them free will put humans at risk.

In conclusion animals should be kept in protected areas where people can be able to view them and are protected.
