Student answer (Band 5.5)
According to the statement no animals need to be kept in zoo and zoos should be closed I oppose this statement and disagree with it.
With my prespective zoos should be present and different species of animals should be kept their because it is a major informative and knowledgeable source for childerns and also for the entertainement for the community but I want to add that animals in the zoo should be treated on a better standard of their lifestyles while taking care of their food, health and tidiness.
If all the standards are maintaine for each of the animals so it is healthier for our people to be entertaine ourself by interacting with them, educating our childerns with such special living organisms and to prepare them that how to take care of them and how such animals are impotant for our life cycle.
I will share my experience of childhood that since my age of 6 I used to play with my pets alot in my home and one day my parents took me to the zoo and there for the very first time I saw the major carnivorous and I was shocked that other than dogs and cats more different animals also exist on the earth and it was a very good experience of my life that i faced such living organisms live infront of me, and from then I started to know more about animals and how to treat them well.
So according to my thinking we should kept animals in zoos and zoos should not be vanished from our lifehoods but also we should take proper care of animals including their environment, feedings and health because it educated our kids and influenced them in a positive manner.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly taking a stance against closing zoos and provides reasons such as education, entertainment, and animal welfare. The writer attempts to support the position with a personal childhood anecdote. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat superficial and repetitive, with the core arguments regarding education and entertainment recycled throughout the text rather than thoroughly extended. Furthermore, there are over-generalisations and a lack of broader societal arguments. While all parts of the prompt are addressed, the depth of task fulfilment aligns best with Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay has a basic overall progression, beginning with an introduction of the writer's stance, moving into supporting points and a personal example, and concluding with a summary. However, paragraphing is poorly managed; the body of the essay is compressed into overly long, dense blocks of text rather than being broken into distinct thematic paragraphs. Cohesive devices are frequently repetitive and mechanical, relying heavily on basic linkers such as 'and', 'so', and 'also'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as pronoun use in complex clauses. These organizational flaws place the response firmly in Band 5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for communicating basic ideas, featuring common terms like 'informative', 'knowledgeable', 'entertainment', and 'carnivorous'. However, the range is limited and repetition of words ('animals', 'zoos', 'care') is noticeable throughout. There are also several word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'treated on a better standard of their lifestyles', 'maintaine' (maintained), 'entertaine ourself', and 'vanished from our lifehoods'. These lexical errors and limitations cause occasional strain for the reader, fitting the Band 5 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tense consistency, and prepositions, such as 'According to the statement no animals need...', 'if all the standards are maintaine', 'since my age of 6', and 'we should kept animals'. Punctuation is also problematic, notably the presence of run-on sentences where multiple independent clauses are joined by coordinating conjunctions without proper punctuation. While meaning is generally retrievable, the high frequency of errors places this at Band 5.
