Student answer (Band 5.0)

IN this modren era, few individuals consider that there is no longer need to kept animals at zoos,so zoos should be shut.I parttially agree with this view due to some reasons.which will be discussed in upcoming paragraph.

On the one hand , this view has some negative phenomenon firstly, if animals kept at zoos so animals lose their freedom they cannot move and live in natural way.Apart from that small causes make them unhappy and unhealthy because reduction of fresh air and body movemnt become them clumsy. In this modren era everything is expensive and a lot of people who can't afford tickets due to this few individuals be deprived of knowledge about animals and wild life. Now a days modren technology replace zoos due to urbanaization and pollution.pollution also impact on animals health and wild life so thats why the proportion of animals will reduce in future.

On the other hand , this view has few advantages, zoos protect endangerd speices because they provide them safe place.people gain knowledge about wild life and animals life.Furthermore, zoos rescue and rehabilitation of some injured animlas and take care of them. zoos also help researchers to search and conversation with wildlife protection programmers. For example, every children books animals are include becaue they foster them to learn about animal in early age because it play an essentail role.

In conclusion , i believe that if zoos are closed so the resource of gaining knowledge will be reduce, animals are haram by pollution, urbanization. only zoos protect them in eassy and better way.apart from that, if animals rescue in zoos so they loss their freedom and health.because they like to live in open and fresh air places.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The student addresses both sides of the argument, acknowledging the negative aspects of zoos such as loss of freedom and health issues, as well as the positive aspects like species protection and educational value. A clear position is stated in the introduction, where the writer mentions that they partially agree with the view. However, some ideas lack full extension and suffer from underdeveloped reasoning, particularly in the first body paragraph where concepts like urbanization, pollution, and the cost of tickets are introduced abruptly without sufficient explanation or connection. Furthermore, the phrasing 'animals are haram by pollution' in the conclusion contains a misuse of terminology, though the general intent is understood. Because all parts of the prompt are addressed with a clear position, but some supporting ideas are only superficially developed, this response aligns closely with Band 5.5 to 6.0. Given the relevant attempts at covering the prompt, a score of 5.5 is appropriate.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into four paragraphs, following a standard introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions, sentence fragments, and poor punctuation. For instance, sentences like 'some reasons.which will be discussed in upcoming paragraph' demonstrate a misunderstanding of basic sentence boundaries. Cohesive devices are either missing or used inaccurately, such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand,' which are not used to present opposing viewpoints of a single choice symmetrically, but rather to list negatives and positives. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, and paragraph internal cohesion is weak due to abrupt shifts between ideas (e.g., jumping from animal movement to ticket prices and pollution within the same paragraph). Overall arrangement shows some organisation, but the mechanical and faulty cohesion places this at Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word choice and spelling throughout the response. Examples of lexical errors include 'modren' instead of 'modern', 'parttially' instead of 'partially', 'endangerd speices' instead of 'endangered species', and 'animlas' instead of 'animals'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items such as 'rehabilitation', 'urbanization', and 'conservation', but these are often incorrectly collocated or spelled, as seen in 'search and conversation with wildlife protection programmers' (likely meaning conservation programs). The range of vocabulary is minimally adequate for the task, but frequent spelling and word-choice errors cause some difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptor well.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex or compound sentences are frequently faulty. There are numerous punctuation and capitalization errors, such as missing spaces after periods ('shut.I', 'paragraph. On'), lower-case letters at the beginning of sentences ('i believe'), and sentence fragments ('which will be discussed in upcoming paragraph'). Grammatical accuracy is low, with frequent errors in verb forms, articles, and prepositions, such as 'animals kept at zoos so animals lose their freedom', 'become them clumsy', and 'every children books animals are include becaue they foster them'. These persistent errors frequently strain the reader and obscure the intended meaning, reflecting the characteristics of Band 4.0, though the presence of some communicative sentences pushes it to a 4.5.
