Student answer (Band 5.5)

In my opinion, we should offcourse not close the zoos permanenently as there are a lot of animals in the zoos which we should not release in our society where there are a lot of people living. As a lot of animals from them are much more dangerous for human lives. They must be kept behind the secured cages and no authorites should take risk about these injurious things.

Moreover, a lot of animals which are kept in the zoos are worthseeing, we can take a lot benifits by seeing these animals. This step would be benifical for the sake of knowledge, research and awareness.

In case, the authorites closes the zoos it would be very dangerous for the whole habitats in the area which will after that damage other surrounding areas.

In 1992, the government sold a lion to someone from the Lahore zoo. This lion was from the special hazardous breed but most of the people were not aware of that breed as they were not known of what the ancestors of lion did. well.after somedays, the news spread that the lion had killed all the members of the house who were there on that time, including the workers of that house. When the news reached to the higher authorities, they sent their best forces to that house to protect the citizens immediately, forces gave their best to control the lion and to protect all the surving people there and even they did their task without any hesitation but sadly there were not even a single person who survived from that house.

In conclusion, every specie have their own place. So, we should not try to shuffle their places.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response presents a clear position opposing the closure of zoos, primarily focused on public safety and the dangers of releasing wild animals into society. The main ideas are supported by reasons, such as education, research, and the danger of wild beasts, and an extended example is provided regarding a lion sold from the Lahore zoo. However, the development tends to be somewhat anecdotal rather than fully exploring broader socio-economic or conservation arguments. While all parts of the prompt are addressed, the ideas are slightly narrow in scope, fitting the criteria for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs discussing safety and an example, and a brief conclusion. However, the logical progression is at times disjointed, particularly with the sudden introduction of the Lahore zoo story in 1992. Cohesive devices are used, but some transitions feel mechanical or awkward (e.g., 'well.after somedays'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'these injurious things'. Overall, the text demonstrates a coherent arrangement, but cohesion is sometimes faulty, aligning with a Band 5.5 score.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items such as 'permanenently', 'authorites', and 'specie'. However, there are numerous spelling errors and awkward word choices or collocations (e.g., 'worthseeing', 'take a lot benifits', 'injurious things', 'all the habitats'). While communication is generally maintained despite these errors, the lexical control restricts the score to a 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent errors in punctuation, subject-verb agreement, prepositions, and clause structures (e.g., 'we should offcourse not close the zoos permanenently as there are a lot...', 'there were not even a single person'). These errors are noticeable and can cause some difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors.
