Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

Your response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it contains only 88 words. According to IELTS guidelines, this severe under-length significantly penalises your Task Achievement score because the ideas cannot be fully developed. You attempt to address the prompt by discussing the advantages of zoos for children, mentioning that 'childrens like animals and children go the zoo with family'. However, your position is extremely limited, repetitive, and lacks proper elaboration. To achieve a higher band, you must write at least 250 words and present fully developed arguments with relevant examples, exploring both sides of the debate regarding whether zoos should be closed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

Your text shows some basic organisation through the use of cohesive markers such as 'Firstly' and 'So'. However, the overall structure is extremely weak due to the very short length and the lack of proper paragraphing. Your ideas do not progress logically; instead, you repeat similar points about children visiting zoos using 'So' excessively to link simple clauses. Referencing is also faulty, as seen in phrases like 'we should kept the animals'. To improve in this criterion, you need to structure your essay into distinct paragraphs with clear topic sentences and use a wider variety of cohesive devices naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

Your vocabulary is very basic and repetitive. Throughout your response, you rely heavily on common words like 'animals', 'zoo', 'children', and 'family'. There are also several noticeable word-form errors, such as 'childrens' instead of 'children' and 'we no longer needed' instead of 'we no longer need'. The range of vocabulary is severely limited and inadequate for an academic task, preventing precise expression. To improve, you should incorporate less common lexical items related to wildlife conservation, animal welfare, and education, while ensuring accurate word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

Your writing displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most of your sentences are basic and repetitive, and you struggle with basic tense consistency, such as writing 'We no longer needed' at the beginning of the essay. Furthermore, there are noticeable grammatical errors, including 'we should kept animals', where the bare infinitive or past participle is used incorrectly after the modal verb instead of the base form 'keep'. Punctuation is also problematic, with incorrect comma placement such as 'So, zoos should be closed.' To achieve a higher band, you must demonstrate control over a mix of complex sentence forms and eliminate basic grammatical errors.
