Student answer (Band 6.0)
The ethical standing of keeping animals in captivity has no longer been a subject to intense global debate. While nature conservationist argue that wildlife can only be protected solely by natrual habitiat conservation without any confinement. I disagree strongly that not all zoos should be termitted. Although the main theme of zoos are merely for purpose of entertainment are obselete, conversational zoo can play a significant part in upscaling the required needs for endangered species, they provide fundamental care towards the initiative of preserving it.
Admittedly many zoo reported prevent animal curelty it is still not satisfactory rather they even have consent for advertising such wildlife for there own purpose, leading to a stress or compromised welfare. It is also argued that keeping animal on a artifical cage causes lose to biodiversity and loss of habitat, also to note that many offsrings never get a chance to develop fully towards their nature animalistic insticts. Thus changing the whole cycle of upbringing.
However closing zoos entirely would not suffice the problem face by the speices on the verge of extinction. As conversational zoos offer a required amount of care, supplimnent, and a offering habitat programmes for mating which which help preserve the line of speices. For example, california condor, gaint panda and arabian oynx owe their very survival towards there mating programmes and habitat provided by zoos. Also to note that some aminals perform poorly in their natural habitat and zoos have be contantly providing controlled enivronment and safety towards such set of animals.
Beyond the idea of conservation and suitable welfare towards the animal ethical morals might let one thing about abolishment of zoos. In my opinon it is uttermost required of having an established facilities for animal and wildlife and completely abolishing zoos is a short-sight stratergy. They are no longer need for their ability to amaze of entertain but for a much larger cause of preservation and safeguarding of animal life and their biodiversity

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear, consistent position throughout, arguing that conservation zoos remain necessary. The main ideas are supported with relevant examples, such as mentioning the California condor, giant panda, and Arabian onyx. While some points are slightly repetitive or underdeveloped—such as the discussion on animal cruelty and artificial cages—the overall position is well-sustained and directly answers the prompt. The progression of thought is clear, moving from a discussion of traditional versus conservation zoos to specific examples of species preservation, culminating in a reasoned conclusion. This performance aligns comfortably with Band 7, as all parts are addressed and supported, although minor over-generalising and slight under-development prevent it from reaching higher bands.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a clear logical organisation with a recognizable overall progression from introduction to conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct arguments, such as the critique of traditional zoos versus the defense of conservation zoos. Cohesive devices are employed, including transitional phrases like 'Admittedly', 'However', and 'Beyond the idea of conservation'. However, there are instances of faulty cohesion and awkward referencing, such as 'where which help' and run-on phrasing in sentences like 'As conversational zoos offer a required amount of care, supplimnent, and a offering habitat programmes for mating which which help preserve the line of speices.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences lack smooth internal linking. These shortcomings place the response at Band 6, where the arrangement is coherent overall, but cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for an academic discussion, incorporating terms like 'biodiversity', 'extinction', 'conservationist', and 'insticts'. However, there are frequent spelling errors and lexical inaccuracies, such as 'natrual habitiat', 'termitted' instead of 'terminated', 'obselete', 'conversational' instead of 'conservation', 'supplimnent', 'gaint', 'oynx', 'enivronment', and 'stratergy'. Word choices and collocations are sometimes awkward, such as 'let one thing about abolishment' or 'offering habitat programmes'. While the vocabulary is adequate to convey the general meaning, the persistent spelling and word-choice errors impede fluency and push the score into the Band 6 category, where an adequate range is shown alongside noticeable lexical inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure with relative clauses and conditional-style setups. However, grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the text. There are numerous punctuation errors, missing articles, and grammatical slips, such as 'has no longer been a subject to intense global debate', 'nature conservationist argue', 'keeping animal on a artifical cage', and 'animals have be contantly providing'. Furthermore, run-on sentences and fragments frequently disrupt the flow, such as 'They are no longer need for their ability to amaze of entertain but for a much larger cause...' These frequent errors in grammar and punctuation mean the text falls short of Band 6 in terms of accuracy, but the presence of complex sentence attempts and understandable core meaning warrants a Band 5.5.
