Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, the role of zoos in modern society has become a subject of intense global debate. Many people argue that keeping animals in captivity is unnecessary and that all zoos should be permanently closed. While traditional cages can restrict animal freedom, I believe that well-managed zoos are still essential for species conservation and public education.
From my perspective, many animals kepts in small cages which may crucial impact on it like dippression and fell stress ,moreover cannot explore forest properly and not take breath in freedem air.Due to entertainment purpose individual keept them in cages and earn money to display them in front of public.for example, now a days for education purpose their are number of documentries avalible on social media, which guide in depth about wild life ,more over VR techonolgies provide real life experinesss which help a lot for education purpose. So their is no need to lock different animals in jail like cages.
on the other hand, zoo play a vital role to save animlas spises which about to end. These animals save due to kinds of breading program, which may necessary to keep these animls alive in future.Further more zoo provide live and closely explore different kind of animals which and provide nature respect among individuals. For instane concepet of safri parks in number of african countries, play a crucial role to save specials species through breeding process.
In conclusion, although confinement in small cages can cause severe psychological distress to animals, zoos remain crucial for preserving endangered species through breeding programs. Therefore, instead of shutting them down completely, traditional zoos should be modernized into spacious safari parks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting both sides of the argument and offering a clear personal stance in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For instance, the arguments against zoos regarding animal welfare and modern alternatives like documentaries and VR technologies in the second paragraph are somewhat superficial and under-developed, while the counter-arguments regarding breeding programs and safari parks are handled more effectively. To move to a higher band, the student should ensure that all main ideas are thoroughly extended and supported with fully articulated explanations and relevant examples rather than relying on brief assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance and a logical progression from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with each body paragraph focusing on a distinct perspective. However, cohesion within and between sentences is sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as the abrupt transitions between sentences in the second paragraph (e.g., starting clauses directly with 'for example' or 'more over' without smooth integration). Referencing and linking devices are occasionally overused or imprecise. To achieve a higher level of cohesion, the writer needs to employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure that referencing is consistently clear and natural throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items related to the topic such as 'conservation', 'psychological distress', and 'breeding programs'. Nevertheless, there are noticeable lexical and spelling inaccuracies that occur throughout the response, including 'dippression', 'keept', 'avalible', 'techonolgies', 'experinesss', 'animlas', 'spises', 'breading', and 'safri'. Word choices and collocations are sometimes awkward or imprecise, as seen in phrases like 'take breath in freedem air' or 'nature respect'. While communication is not severely impeded, these frequent errors in spelling and word form prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use varied structures. However, there are persistent grammatical errors throughout the text, involving subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'zoo play', 'their are number of'), article usage (e.g., 'for entertainment purpose', 'in future'), prepositions, and verb forms (e.g., 'kepts in small cages which may crucial impact'). Although these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur regularly alongside faulty complex structures. To improve, the writer needs to increase the proportion of error-free sentences and exercise greater control over basic grammatical patterns, punctuation, and tense consistency.
