Student answer (Band 5.5)

The peoples think that no longer need to have animals kept in zoos, whereas zoos should be closed. I completely disagree with this statement because animals should be kept in zoos to explore the various type of animals to future generation.

Firstly, One of the major reason i agree that there are numerous benefits by providing shelter for animals by the zoos. The future generation can able to know about different kinds of animals in the world. Moreover, they can enhance there knowledge by exploring the zoos although children can able to know their habits and behaviour practically. For instance, the authorities also has benefits in financial sector by providing more zoos . As the result, many individuals will visit by buying tickets so government can collect founding to run the state.

Another reason is that by providing zoos we can protect many animals. Not only animals they can save people also because in the society there are many wild animals such as lion, tiger they are very dangerous for human lifes so by providing zoos for that animals we can save both living beings. For instance, in our world some animals are going to extinct so to protect them zoos are the best solution. Eventually, that helps to future generation to know about prior animals.

In conclusion, I completely disagree with statement because without zoos animals will undergoes danger and some animals will extinct in future and it is also harmful to people to protect from them. By proving zoos there are many advantages like providing shelter and food for animals and the future generation can able to know about different kinds of animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, explicitly stating total disagreement with the prompt. Relevant ideas are presented, such as the educational value of zoos for future generations and their role in animal conservation and public safety. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack full clarity. For instance, the point regarding financial benefits for authorities and ticket sales is introduced abruptly and left underdeveloped in relation to the main argument about animal welfare. Additionally, nine words copied directly from the prompt were not counted toward the minimum length requirement. To reach a higher level, all main arguments need to be fully extended and supported with more cohesive, detailed explanations rather than brief, repetitive assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance established in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as educational benefits, economic factors, and wildlife conservation. However, cohesion within and between sentences is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Another reason' are relied upon heavily, and referencing is not always clear, as seen in vague phrases like 'for that animals' or 'that helps to future generation'. Progression is occasionally hindered by abrupt shifts between ideas, such as moving from children's habits and behaviour to government funding in the second paragraph. Greater flexibility in cohesive devices and smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items related to the topic, such as 'conservation', 'extinct', 'shelter', and 'financial sector'. However, noticeable word-choice, word-form, and collocation errors occur throughout the text. Examples include 'The peoples think', 'enhance there knowledge', 'collect founding', and 'animals will undergoes danger'. Furthermore, awkward phrasings like 'prior animals' and 'harmful to people to protect from them' cause some minor difficulty for the reader. While communication is not severely impeded, these frequent lexical inaccuracies prevent the vocabulary from reaching a higher standard of precision and natural control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside a few basic attempts at complex forms. Frequent errors in grammar occur across the text, particularly concerning verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. Examples of these errors include 'animals should be kept in zoos to explore', 'The future generation can able to know', 'the authorities also has benefits', and 'many individuals will visit by buying tickets'. Additionally, articles and plurals are handled inconsistently, such as in 'in our world some animals are going to extinct'. These persistent grammatical errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a need for better control over complex syntactic structures and accurate grammatical patterns.
