Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's world, compared to all living things, we should not keep animals in the zoos and the zoos must be closed. I do agree to this because every living thing deserve the humble treatment.

Unfortunately, animals are not kept with proper care and their diet should be at first priority. Many animals died because of not getting proper nutriens, not getting the proper care, not getting proper safety. Animals are created not for keeping them in zoos like in a prison, they are created and made to live freely.

Zoos are made for the purpose of entertainment, but animals should not be made the tarqet for this prupose. Not only animals but birds are also kept in cages for the fun and entertainment purpose. If they get proper space where they can breath, live, get a clean environment and hygine, then its justifiable to keep them in zoos. Therefore, it is nearly impossible for keep that rhythm for the animals. Moreover, animals such as tigers and lions are dangeous to kept them in the zoos for our society. For instance, in past years there was a report published online where a tiger ran from a zoo and all the people were instructed to stay home and stay safe, therefore that is why it is very important to atleast not keep animals such as tigers and lions in the zoos.

In conclusion, forest is the place made for animals, they should not be kept in zoos therefore zoos should be closed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your response successfully addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether zoos should be closed. You state your agreement early on and support your stance with arguments related to animal welfare and public safety, such as mentioning tigers escaping from zoos. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, your point about animals dying due to improper nutrition and lack of safety is relevant, but it remains somewhat generalized without deeper extension or specific real-world examples beyond the tiger incident. To move to a higher level, you should ensure that every main idea is thoroughly explored, explained, and supported with well-developed supporting points rather than brief statements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

Your essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion that reflects your main thesis. You attempt to use cohesive devices such as "Unfortunately", "Therefore", and "Moreover" to guide the reader through your arguments. However, the cohesion is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, and referencing is not always clear, particularly in sentences like "Therefore, it is nearly impossible for keep that rhythm for the animals." Additionally, paragraphing could be improved to better separate distinct ideas, as your second body paragraph tackles multiple points ranging from entertainment to animal hygiene and public safety. Improving logical transitions between sentences will help your writing flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms such as "entertainment", "environment", and "hygiene". You also attempt some less common vocabulary, though this is accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word forms, such as "deserve" instead of "deserves", "nutriens" instead of "nutrients", "tarqet" instead of "target", and "dangeous to kept" instead of "dangerous to keep". These lexical and spelling inaccuracies sometimes draw attention, but they do not severely impede communication. To reach a higher standard, you need to expand your control of less common lexical items, ensure correct word forms and collocations, and eliminate basic spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your writing exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to construct varied sentences such as conditional structures and relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in sentence structures, verb forms, prepositions, and pluralization that can cause some difficulty for the reader. Examples include "animals are not kept with proper care and their diet should be at first priority", "Animals are created not for keeping them in zoos", and "for keep that rhythm". You also have issues with subject-verb agreement and prepositional patterns. To achieve a stronger grammatical profile, you must increase your control over complex sentence structures and reduce errors in basic grammatical patterns and verb complements.
