Student answer (Band 6.0)
Now a days, people are arguing that there is no need to keep animals in zoos, so they should be closed. I completely diagree with this statement because zoos allow people to be aware of different and rare animals, and also zoos generate jobs which could benefit people.
Having zoos are very much important for the younger and elderly people. Zoos gives the opportunity to the citizens to explore different animals within a boundry, and sometimes a chance to have a look of rare species of the world. Beside these, zoos allow people to learn about the characteristics of different animals as well as about the safety measures when they encounter a dangerous animal in public. For instance, when visiting zoo a guide can tell the people about different kind of reptiles and whether they are harmful or not, and also what do if you encounter any poisnous reptile in your home or garden.
Zoos also can be a source of income for many people by giving them jobs. Zoos require many employees for jobs like security guards, cleaners, guides, care taker for animals and few others. Zoos require special care takers for animals as they will be looking after the health as well as diet of animal. Sometime visitors may throw some unnessecary food or snack towards the animals which they can swallow and endup getting sick. So, a special care taker is required for the animals and guides that guide the visitors about not throwing irrelevent things towards the animals.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that zoos should not be shutdown as they create job opportunities and gives knowledge to people about the different and rare species of the world and what steps to take when facing a dangerous animal.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by clearly stating a personal position of complete disagreement with closing zoos. Relevant ideas are presented, such as the educational value of seeing rare animals and the creation of job opportunities. However, some ideas are under-developed or supported with somewhat simplistic reasoning. For instance, the point about safety measures when encountering dangerous animals is raised but not fully expanded into a convincing argument. To reach a higher level, the ideas need to be extended with more depth and thoroughly supported elaboration throughout the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two distinct body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a logical progression of ideas, moving from educational benefits in the second paragraph to economic advantages in the third. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty, such as the awkward transition 'Beside these' and repetitive sentence openings. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and cohesive devices are not always used with complete flexibility. Paragraphing is used sufficiently, but overall flow would benefit from a wider range of smoother linking expressions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'characteristics', 'rare species', and 'employment opportunities'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that reflect a limited control of lexis, including 'diagree', 'boundry', 'poisnous', 'care taker', 'unnessecary', 'endup', and 'shutdown'. These inaccuracies do not seriously impede communication, but they prevent the writing from achieving a higher band. Developing greater precision in spelling and collocations will greatly strengthen this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like relative clauses and conditional-style examples. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as subject-verb agreement issues in 'Having zoos are very much important' and 'gives the opportunity', as well as article omissions and awkward preposition usage like 'visiting zoo'. Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. To improve further, the writer should focus on greater control over basic grammatical agreements and article usage.
